Abstract

A DDF device for interconnecting a first and a second shielded communication system, each comprising a plurality of input/output cables (25, 29), each including at least one signal conductor (27, 31) and a surrounding grounded shield. The DDF device comprises a shielding casing (3) of a conducting material; cross-connectors (17, 19) located within the shielding casing for interconnecting the signal conductors of each of the cables of the first and second communication systems to thereby enable signals to be transferred between the systems. The DDF device further comprises first shield connectors (51, 53) for connecting the surrounding grounded shield of each of the cables of the first system to the casing; and a conductive plate (37) arranged at a distance (D) and insulated from the shielding casing, and including second shield connectors (55, 57) for connecting the surrounding grounded shield of each of the cables of the second system to the plate to thereby prevent any DC current from flowing between the grounded shields of the respective system.
