To all whom. it may concern Be it known that I, OLIVE JOHNSON DE BLIEUX, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ladies Underfication.

My invention relates to improvements in ladies under garments and more particularly to a one piece undershirt to be worn under the corset.

One of the objects of my invention is to provide an undershirt which holds itself in position upon the body of the wearer without the aid of shoulder straps. Shoulder straps are very undesirable in man instances, particularly when an evenin ress, which exposes the neck and shoul ers, is worn. In such cases, after the corset is in position holding the shirt in place, the shoulder straps are slipped over thearms and tucked in under the edge of the corset. Such an arrangement and procedure produces an unsightly and uncomfortable bunching of the fabric at such points and isa very undesirable makeshift.

Another object of my invention is to provide an undershirt in which a band of elas-. tic, ribbed knit fabric at the upper edge of the shirt performs not only the function of supporting the garment in proper position but also provides a support for the bust, adding materially to the comfort of the wearer.

Other and further objects of my invention will become readil apparent from a consideration of the f0 lowin description taken in conjunction with the drawings wherein:

Referring to the drawings, numeral 10 indicates in general a one piece undershirt formed of soft, elastic, textlle fabric, such as is customarily used for garments of thisnature in order that it may fit closely at the Waist 11, over the hips 12, and breasts l3 and 14. The upper front edge of the garment passes over-the breasts l3 and 14 on a line above their centers, and under the armpits. The upper edge is knitted into'an elastic band of webbing 15, of ap roximately an inch and a half in width. T lis webbing overlying the breasts provides a support therefor and has sufficient elasticity to fit closely against the skin of the wearer and support the shirt in proper position. The top of the shirt is shaped so that the upper edge at the back extends horizontally approximately on a line with the armpits of a wearer and at the front runs up and-over the breasts at a point below that at which their outward curves merge into the straighter curves of the chest. The undershirt extends downward to a point 16 low enough to come below the corset line and thus provides complete protection to the skin of the wearer from chafing by the corset.

Having described my invention, what I claim is:-'

A ladys one piece armless undershirt, comprising a closely fitting body portion, terminating at its upper edge in' a continuous knitted elastic band adapted to pass over the breasts and under the armpits of a wearer.
