To all whomat may concern: j
Be it known that I, ADAM J. BAUER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Owego, in the county of Tioga, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Adjustable Window-Screens; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable lothers skilled in the -art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to window screens and has for an object to provide a window screen that may be adjusted to fit any size of Window and may be then locked in such adjusted position so that it will always be adjusted to that window.
A further object of the invention is to provide an extremely simple and inexpensive window screen that will be formed of a few parts that will not easily get out of order.
With the above objects in view the inventionconsists of certain novel details of construction and combination of parts here'- inafter fully described and claimed, it being understood that various modifications may be made in the minor details of construction within the scope of the appended claims.

Referring now to the drawing in which like characters of reference designate simi- .lar parts,

The frame 11 is equipped on the top rail and the bottom rail with respective channeliron guide extensions 19 and 20 which slidably receive the corresponding rails of the frame 10 and are each formed of a single sheet of metal bent upon itself to produce a double angle iron structure as shown, this construction serving to firm] hold the screen elements about to be escribed in place.
A screen element 21 is stretched over the frame 10, and a similar screen element 22 1s Y stretched over the frame 11, these elements being held firmly in place by the channeliron extensions 19 and 20. Both channel iron extensions are connected by a single u right metal bar 23 which serves to hold te extensions in rigid spaced relation so that binding of the frames will be positively prevented during their relative movement toward and away from each other. From the above description it will be seen that I have provided an extremely simple and inexpensive screen that may be adjusted to windows of various sizes and may be locked in any adjusted position, and further that the screen is formed of a few strong and durable parts that will not easily get out of order.

each tension device including a bolt passed through the confronting end bars of both frames, a helical spring on the bolt between said bars serving normally to urge said frames apart, the head of said bolt bearing against the vinner face of one of said bars, and a nut on said bolt bearing against the inner face of the other of said bars, said nut being positionable at various points on the end of said bolt to limit expansion of said spring and hold said frames anchored at a i predetermined relative position.v
