useful Port-Light Screen, of which the 01- lowingis a specification.

i It consists'also of ,a ring-like reinforcev,inent for the peripheral portion of thegauze or screen-like member, and the adaptability of the same as a fixture on the latter, and permitting the removalias one of both said member and- ,its reinforcement from the collar or frameof the device.
It consists further in providing the gauze or screen-like ,member with a'bail for conveniently handling said ,member' in its application to and remdval from position, the same being mounted on iearswhich are connectible with the roper" portions of the device by screws ,which are employed as.
means to prevent rotation of said member when occupying its operative position.
The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accompanying drawing, but the im portant instrumentalities thereof may be varied, and so it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details shown and described, as long as they are within the spirit or scope of the claims.

flange 3 inturned fromonesideof the periphery thereof. On the back or inner face of said fiange is seated freely the sheet 4 of vgauze or screen-like material of metal, on
the inner side of the peripheral portion of at 6, thus reinforcing said portion and ,rigidly connecting the latter withsaid ring whereby they may belocated and removed as one.
In theouter peripheraledges ofsaid ring and sheet are the spaced apart slotsor recesses 7 and 8 respectively, said slots being left uncovered by the solder employed, see
Fig. 5, and in the side rim? of the collar are the spaced apart lugs 9 which arestruck up or punched in from the material of said rim so as to be projected inwardly into thecollar, they'being adapted to be passed-through,
registering pairs of-said slots 7 and 8, and then by rotating. said ringand sheet-the .rear faces of the ring ride under said lugs, and the latter overhang said ring whereby the sheet is held tightly on its seat on the flange 3, and so firmly connected with the collar, this being accomplished in a simple and practical manner.
In order to retain the ring and sheet in adjusted position on the collar, openings 10 are made through the ring, openings 11 are made through the sheet, and openings 12 are made through the flange 3, see Fig. 6, said openings being adapted to register, and through the same are passed the screws 13 whose threaded ends appear on the exterior of said flange where they have fitted on them the nuts 14 which are adapted to be tightened against the outer face of the flange 3, the effect of which is evident.
In order to provide convenient handles for applying and removing the ring and sheet to and from position on the flange 3, we employ the bails 15 which are mounted in ears l6, the latter being secured to the Whichis the annulus or ring5of metal which is rigidly secured to said portionby solder as band 5, and consequently to the sheet and collar by the screws 13 which also pass through; openings in said ears and provide common connections for the band, sheet, and bails with the collar.
It is evident that by removing the nuts and screws the ring and sheet may be rotated, andwhen the slots in the same are in register with the lugs 9, the sheet and ring may be withdrawn from the flange and consequently disconnected and displaced from the collar, it beingseen that as the ring and peripheral portion'of the sheet are connected as one, the sheet may be readily removed and-reapplied as one to and from the collar without liability to bend, especially on its periphery owing to the fact that said periphery is vastly'reinforced by the ring and solder, the latter remaining on thering, an
improvement in the art where sheets of the kind are soldered to the flange 8, as hereto- Y fore practised.

Having thus described ourv invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 7 v I v 1. In a port light screen, a collar,a gauzelike'sheet, and a ring, the latter being rigidly connected with the peripheral portion .of said sheet as one, and both freely seated on said collar. e V

In a port light screen, a collar, a gauze- ;like' sheet, a ring on the peripheral portion of said sheet, and means on the side-rim of said collar adapted to project into the collar and overhang said ring, said ring and sheet having in the peripheral portions slots through which said means may pass in the 1 application of the same to saidcollar.
