Be it known that I, Cnnnnm Tonnes citizen of the United States, and resident o Ridgefield Park, in the county of Bergen and State of New J erse have invented certain new and useful eating Devices for Carbureters, of which the following is a specification.
invention relates to improvements in heating devices for carburetors and the like for use in internal combustion engines and the object of my invention is to provide a.
' device for pre-heating the gases before their introduction into the combustion chamber I accomplish this object by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in whichv Figure 1 is a sectional view of the device.

My invention is adapted for use in connectlon with any desired type of internal combustion engine and as the construction of engines of this character is well known the application and operation of my device will be fully understood without a description of the details of the adjacent parts of the engine.
It is desirable that the liquid fuel supplied to the engine be well vaporized and in proper condition to mix with the air drawn into the mixing chamber and the proper vapor ization and mixture or difiusion of va or and air may be advantageously and e ectively attained by the pro-heating of the mixture.
My improved heating device is adapted to be applied between the manifold of an in ternal combustion engine and the combustion chamber, not shown, of an internal combustion engine and comprises a asket 1 secured in position between the pi sections 2 and 3 by means of bolts 4, 5. his gasket 1 is rovided with a central gas aperture 6 in w ich is rovided a suitableelectrical resistance coil 7 to which is supplied an electrical current from any desired source of suppl in the usual manner. Upon the gasket 1 provide an open cone 8 on which facings 9 an I mount a supplementary open cone. 9 carrying a heating coil 10-to which the electrical current 1s supplied from any desired source. The cone 9 is rovided with inner and outer 9 of mica or like insulating material. Y
In the gasket 1 I provide a loose packing 11 of mineral wool or like material held in position by means of an inner and outer grating 12 and 13 respectively.
The electrical terminals 15 and 16 are connested with the frame and battery respectively in the usual well known manner.
My device being thus assembled, the gas mixture from the manifold of the engine will be conducted through the pipe 2 to my improved heating device. I prefer to use in the gasket 1 a loose packing 11 of mineral wool for the purpose of slightly retarding the gas in contact with the heated surface produced by the heating coil 7 but this packmg 11 may be omitted without departing from my invention. The gas mixture thus preferably heated in the gasket 1 passes through the gasket into the heating cone 9 which is heated by means of its resistance coil 10 and the gas mixture is heated by contact with the heated surface and the high 1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a pipe for the combustion gases, an open gasket therein, a loose packing in the gasket to retard the gases and a heating coil in the gasket whereby the gases passing through the gasket are heated before their introduction into the combustion chamber. f p
2. In a device of the character described the combination of a pipe for the combustion gases, a gasket therein, a heating coil in the gasket and an open cone adjacent the gasket and a heating coil in the cone.
3. In a device of the character described, the combination of a pipe for the combustion gases, a gasket in the pipe, a heating coil in the gasket, an open cone mounted on the gasket, a heating cone carried thereby and having an inner and outer facing of insulating material.
