ATTORNEY CHAR ES E. LEWIS, or SAN an'ronro, Texas."
i COMBINED srooL Ann TABLE.

and picnic parties.
The primary object of my invention is to provide a combined stool and table, wh1ch is capable of being folded into a fiat pack-' age, whereby it will occupy small space in transportation and is convenient to be handled; capable of being opened to form a stool upon which a person may sit and a table upon which utensils and food are to be placed. I
A further object of my invention is to so construct the combined stool and table that a knife, fork and spoon compartments are provided when it is closed, and means provided for detachably supporting a suitable dish.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a top plan view of my combined stool and table, shown in its closed position.
I Fig. 2 is an edge view of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is an inverted plan, showing the stool and table in folded position.
Fig. A is a longitudinal central sectional view, the parts shown in closed positions.
Fig. 5 is a top plan View showing the stool and table in open positions ready to be occupied and eaten from.
Fig. 6 is a central vertical sectionalview of Fig. 5.
In carrying out my present improvement, I provide a rectangular shaped member, or top A, which has depending ends and sides B, thus forming an elongated recess F, at the under side of the top or member A.
A suitable seat surface B, such as leather, is secured to the seat end of the device, and secured to the under side of the top A beneath the seat B is a metal plate I. This metal plate I carries the ordinary form of ,5pecification of. Letters Patent. jPatgnte-d Ema 22 .1921 Application filed January 1t. 1920 serial No. 350,503.
the upper cross-rod Hiof thelegs Sr, and
the inner end of the plate I is provided with a downwardly extending hook I with which the other upper cross-rod J of the legs G 1s adapted to interlock, as'shown in Fig. 6, whereby the legs are held in the position shown in that figure for supporting the combined stool and table. The other end of the top A, opposite the seat portion B, is provided with an outwardly extending recess. D, into which a folding leaf A is adapted to be folded, as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3. This leaf A is hlnged to the top A, by suitable hinges E, and the leaf is supported in its extended pos1t1on by a suitable support C.
Means is provided'at the under side. of the top A, beneath the seat portion D, for detachably supporting a suitable dish J, made of aluminum or other material. The outer edge of this dish J, engages a transverse strip K, secured to the plate I, in any suitable manner, at a point insidev of the eye G, and the inner edge of the dish J is de tachably held by a pivoted latch H. l A knife, fork and spoon compartment E is provided at the under side ofthe top A. near the end opposite the seat portion B, by a transversely extending partition or web C, and a suitable pivoted button F serves to hold these articles therein. The folding legs G are of a length and width not exceeding the width and length of the recess F, under the top A, so that they can be folded within this recess, as clearly shown in Figs. 3 and 4.. When so folded,
' they are held in their folded position by a 2, 3 and 4, ready for transportation and will occupy little space, and can be quickly and readily opened into operative positionsfor use.
Having thus described my invention,
what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: p
1. A combined stool and table, comprismg an elongated body having a seat portion at'one end and a table portion at its opposite end, the elongatedbody provided with downwardly extending sides which form an open sided hollow bottom, means carried within the hollow bottom to carry and retain table articles, a plate secured within the hollow bottom, folding legs having one of their upper ends pivoted to the outer end of the plate, and the inner end of the plate having a hook to engage the other upper ends of the legs, whereby the legs may be supported in their extended position or folded inward against the bottom of the body and within the hollow bottom thereof.
2, A combinedstool and table, compris+ ing an elongated body having a seat portion at one end and a table portion at its opposite end, a plate secured to the under side of the body beneath the seat portion, foldtended position or folded inward against the bottom of the body.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
CHARLES E. LEWIS.
