GAME.

Application filed March 17, 1927. Serial No. 176,017.

My invention relates to a game, and it is my object to provide apparatus for a game similar to the old game known asbean bags.

A further object of the invention is to provide such a game apparatus which is of simple, durable, and inexpensive construction.

A further object is to provide such a game apparatus which may be folded for shipping in such a manner as to be protected against injury,

lVith these and other objects in view, my invention consists in the construction, arrangement and combination of the various parts of my device, whereby the objects contemplated are attained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the game apparatus.

Fig. 2 is a longitudinal, sectional view of the base thereof, the top being shown in its two positions in dotted lines.

Fig. 3 is an end view of the base.

Figs. 4, 5 and 6 are views of bags used in playing the game.

The game apparatus comprises a base, re ferred to generally by the reference character A, and a cover, referred to generally by the reference character B.

The base A has the bottom member 10 and the side walls 11, forming a shallow trough.

To the rear ends of the side walls 11 are secured vertical posts 12 and triangularshaped walls 13 are secured to the side walls 11 and posts 12. A rear wall 14 connects the posts 12 and is provided with a semicircular opening 15. A pair of lugs 16 are secured to the inner sides of the walls 11 and are inclined at their ends as at-17 and spaced from the edges of the walls 13 to form the channelled grooves 18. The lugs 16 project above the edges of the walls 11 as illustrated.

The cover member B comprises a flat plate 19 provided with a central opening 20 which may be square or round. Flanges 21 and 22 border the sides and'one end of the plate 19. The free ends of the flanges 21 are bevelled as at 23 at such an angle that, when the plate 19 rests against the inclined edges of the walls 13, as shown in Fig. 1, the bevelled ends 23 will register with the upper edges of the side walls 11 and the plate 19 Wlll be allowed to extend to the bottom mem ber 10. When thus packed, the flanges 21 will be protected against injury, due to the inverted position of the cover member.

Some changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of the parts of my invention without departing from the real spirit and purpose of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claims, any modified forms of structure or use of mechanical equivalents, which may be rea" sonably included within their scope.

I claim as my invention:

1. A gamecomprising ahorizontal base, an inclined cover member provided with an opening and a pocket formed, behind said cover member and provided with an opening for the removal of bags, said cover member andbase being formed as shallow troughs registering with each other.

2. A game apparatus comprising a shallow trough-shaped base, triangular-shaped walls atone end of the base,a cover member adapted to rest against inclined edges of said walls to form a closedipocket and hook fasteners cooperating with the upper end of said cover member to secure itto the triangular-shaped walls.

3. A game apparatus comprising a shallow troughshaped base, triangular-shaped walls at one end of the base, a cover member adapted to rest against inclined edges of said walls to form a closedpo'cket and hook fasteners cooperating with the upper, end of saidcover memberto secure itto the triangular-shaped walls, the base being provided with grooves to receive the lower end of the cover member.

A game apparatus comprising a shallow trough-shaped base, triangular-shaped walls secured to the inner sides of the side walls of said base, lugs secured to the inner sides oi the side Walls of said base, the ends of said lugs being inclined and spaced from the inclined edges. of said triangular-shaped walls to form grooves and a cover member adapted to be received in one end of said grooves and to be fastened at its other end to the upper extremities of the triangularshaped Walls. f

5. In a game apparatus, a shallow, trouglr shaped base,triangular walls secured to the inner faces of the side walls of said base at one end thereof, a cover member comprising a plate, side flanges and an end flange secured thereto, said side flanges being adapted to embrace the triangular-shaped walls when the cover member is placed in a position with itaianges in contact with the side walls of the base, the triangular-sl1aped walls being provided with notches to receive the end edge of the cover member and means for securing the other end of the cover member to the base.
