Abstract
A floor assembly includes a plurality of floor units each includes two side grooves and two bottom grooves. Any two adjacent floor units are connected side by side by a connection member which has a base plate with two engaging portions extending from a top surface thereof. An upright portion extends from the top surface of the base plate and a horizontal plate extends horizontally from the upright portion. Two ends of the horizontal plate are respectively engaged with two respective side grooves of two adjacent floor units, and the two engaging portions are engaged with the two bottom grooves of the two adjacent floor units.
Description
- The present invention relates to a floor assembly wherein each floor unit has two bottom grooves and two side grooves, and any two adjacent floor units are connected by inserting a connection member in the bottom grooves and the side grooves.
- A conventional way to assemble a floor is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, and generally includes a plurality of
floor units 10 each is shaped as a rectangular board. Agroove 12 is defined in one side of thefloor unit 10 and aprotrusion 11 extends from the other side of thefloor unit 10. Any twoadjacent floor units 10 are connected with each other by sliding theprotrusion 11 of onefloor unit 10 in thegroove 12 in theother floor unit 10. Eachfloor unit 10 has to be machined two times to shape theprotrusion 11 and thegroove 12. Besides, the whole length of each of thefloor units 10 is completely machined so that thefloor units 10 are able to be connected with each other one by one. Besides, the assembling process requires a lot of time to insert theprotrusions 11 in thegrooves 12. - In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a floor assembly which comprises a plurality of floor units and each floor unit has two side grooves and two bottom grooves. The two bottom grooves are located close to the two sides of each of the floor units. A plurality of connection members each have a base plate which has two engaging portions extending from a top surface thereof. An upright portion extends from the top surface of the base plate and a horizontal plate extends horizontally from the upright portion. Two ends of the horizontal plate are engaged with two respective side grooves of two adjacent floor units. The two engaging portions are engaged with the two bottom grooves of the two adjacent floor units.
- The primary object of the present invention is to provide a connection member that is engaged with sides grooves and bottom grooves of any two adjacent floor units so as to connect the two floor units together.
- The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
- FIG. 1 is an exploded view to show a conventional floor assembly;
- FIG. 2 is a cross sectional view to show the connection of two conventional floor units;
- FIG. 3 is an exploded view to show a floor unit and a connection member of the floor assembly of the present invention;
- FIG. 4 is an exploded view to show the floor assembly of the present invention, and
- FIG. 5 is a cross sectional view to show the connection of two floor units of the present invention.
- Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, the floor assembly of the present invention comprises a plurality of
floor units 20 and eachfloor unit 20 includes twoside grooves 22 defined in two sides of each of thefloor units 20 and twobottom grooves 23 defined in a bottom of each of thefloor units 20. The twobottom grooves 23 are located close to the two sides of each of thefloor units 20. - A plurality of
connection members 30 each have abase plate 33 which has twoengaging portions 34 extending from two ends on a top surface thereof. Anupright portion 32 extends from an intermediate point the top surface of thebase plate 33 and ahorizontal plate 31 extends horizontally from theupright portion 32. Two ends of thehorizontal plate 31 are engaged with tworespective side grooves 22 of twoadjacent floor units 20, and the twoengaging portions 34 are engaged with the twobottom grooves 23 of the twoadjacent floor units 20. Acushion pad 40 is adhered to the bottom of the floor assembly so as to provide proper cushion feature. - The
connection members 30 are made from plastic material so that they have proper flexibility to engage with theside grooves 22 and thebottom grooves 23 so that the ridges of thegrooves floor units 20 together. Besides, the length of thegrooves floor units 20. - While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
