Abstract

The invention relates to a circular food container with double sealing structure comprises: a circular container body having an upward opening, a periphery of the upward opening outward folded to from a lower U-shaped body and the lower U-shaped body having an inner side surface forming a first sealing groove and an outer side surface forming a second sealing groove; and a circular cover having a downward opening, a periphery of the downward opening having an upper U-shaped body for fitting to each other, the upper U-shaped body having an inner side surface forming a third sealing groove and an outer side surface forming a fourth sealing groove for forming a double sealing structure of the inner side and outer side surfaces of the upper U-shaped body and lower U-shaped body.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The invention relates to a circular food container with double sealing structure, particularly to a container body and a cover of plastic vacuum molding or injection molding having an inner and outer side double sealing structure at periphery of openings thereof.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Plastic containers of box, cup and bowel types made by means of vacuum molding are suitable for keeping food fresh.
  • For keeping jelly, pudding, cheese or other liquid food, the food container must be well sealed, avoiding leakage during delivery or transportation.
  • U.S. Pat. No. 6,056,138 discloses a food container, entitled “Triple seal container”. According to this design, the food container comprises a container body and a lid. The lid has a sealing edge matting corresponding edge of the container body, and a locking lip protruding from the sealing edge lockable to the edge of the container body. This design of food container eliminates the problem of the food container; however it still has drawbacks as follows:
  • 1. The locking lip is hooked on the bottom side of the edge of the container body. When opening the lid, the user must pull the locking lip away from the edge of the container body with the fingers. When pulling the locking lip from the edge of the container body, the user's fingers may be injured by the locking lip or the edge of the container body accidentally.
  • 2. The locking lip enhances stability of the connection between the lid and the container body to avoid falling of the lid from the container body. However, the abutment surface area between the lid and the container body is a plane contact. Because the lid and the container body are made by vacuum molding, their wall thickness is thin. The tension or strength is insufficient to keep the abutment surface area between the lid and the container body in a tight status. If the container body falls down, a contained fluid will leak out of the food container through the gap in the abutment surface area between the lid and the container body.
    • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is a primary object of the present invention to provide a circular food container with double sealing structure, which provides an inner and outer side double sealing structure at periphery of openings of a container body and a cover for well-sealing without heating.
  • It is a second object of the present invention to provide a circular food container with double sealing structure, which enables the user to open the cover from the container body with the fingers conveniently with less effort without tools.
  • It is a third object of the present invention to provide a circular food container with double sealing structure, which enables the user to open the food container without destroying the container body and the cover and so that the cover can be repeated sealing with the container body for continually reserving the fresh food.
  • In order to achieve the above objects, the circular food container with double sealing structure comprises: a circular container body having an upward opening, a periphery of the upward opening outward folded to from a lower U-shaped body and the lower U-shaped body having an inner side surface forming a first sealing groove and an outer side surface forming a second sealing groove; and a circular cover corresponding to the circular container body having a downward opening, a periphery of the downward opening corresponding to the lower U-shaped body of the circular container body having an upper U-shaped body for fitting to each other, the upper U-shaped body having an inner side surface corresponding to the first sealing groove forming a third sealing groove and an outer side surface corresponding to the second sealing groove forming a fourth sealing groove for forming a double sealing structure of the inner side and outer side surfaces of the upper U-shaped body and lower U-shaped body.

    •  DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 and 5, the preferred embodiment of a circular food container 30 in accordance with the present invention comprises: a circular container body 10 having an upward opening 11, a periphery of the upward opening 11 outward folded to from a lower U-shaped body 12 and the lower U-shaped body 12 having an inner side surface forming a first sealing groove 13 and an outer side surface forming a second sealing groove 14; and a circular cover 20 corresponding to the circular container body 10 having a downward opening 21, a periphery of the downward opening 21 corresponding to the lower U-shaped body 12 of the circular container body 10 having an upper U-shaped body 22 for fitting to each other, the upper U-shaped body 22 having an inner side surface corresponding to the first sealing groove 13 forming a third sealing groove 23 and an outer side surface corresponding to the second sealing groove 14 forming a fourth sealing groove 24 for forming a double sealing structure of the inner side and outer side surfaces of the upper U-shaped body 22 and lower U-shaped body 12.
  • Based on the features disclosed, the first sealing groove 13 and third sealing groove 23 and the second sealing groove 14 and fourth sealing groove 24 are respectively located at different height position of the inner side surface and the outer side surface. In the embodiment as shown in FIG. 4, the first sealing groove 13 and third sealing groove 23 at the inner side surface is higher than the second sealing groove 14 and fourth sealing groove 24 at the outer side surface.
  • Further, the circular cover 20 includes a first annular groove 26 between a wall surface thereof and the upper U-shaped body 22 and a second annular groove 27 on a surface thereof but it is not a limitation.
  • In the embodiment, the upper U-shaped body 22 has a pull tab 28 at an outer side thereof for the user to open the circular cover 20 and the upper U-shaped body 22 of the circular cover 20 includes a flange surface 29 outwardly and horizontally extending from an outside bottom thereof. Moreover, the circular container body 10 and circular cover 20 include wave bodies 15, 25 on wall surfaces thereof.
  • Based on the features disclosed, the present invention provides the inner and outer side double sealing structure so that the circular container body 10 and the circular cover 20 provide a better sealing function.
  • Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.

What is claimed is:
1. A circular food container with double sealing structure, comprising:
a circular container body having an upward opening, a periphery of the upward opening outward folded to from a lower U-shaped body and the lower U-shaped body having an inner side surface forming a first sealing groove and an outer side surface forming a second sealing groove; and
a circular cover corresponding to the circular container body having a downward opening, a periphery of the downward opening corresponding to the lower U-shaped body of the circular container body having an upper U-shaped body for fitting to each other, the upper U-shaped body having an inner side surface corresponding to the first sealing groove forming a third sealing groove and an outer side surface corresponding to the second sealing groove forming a fourth sealing groove for forming a double sealing structure of the inner side and outer side surfaces of the upper U-shaped body and lower U-shaped body.
2. The circular food container with double sealing structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first sealing groove and third sealing groove and the second sealing groove and fourth sealing groove are respectively located at different height position of the inner side surface and the outer side surface.
3. The circular food container with double sealing structure as claimed in claim 2, wherein the circular cover includes a first annular groove between a wall surface thereof and the upper U-shaped body and a second annular groove on a surface thereof.
4. The circular food container with double sealing structure as claimed in claim 3, wherein the upper U-shaped body has a pull tab at an outer side thereof.
5. The circular food container with double sealing structure as claimed in claim 4, wherein the upper U-shaped body of the circular cover includes a flange surface outwardly and horizontally extending from an outside bottom thereof.
6. The circular food container with double sealing structure as claimed in claim 1, wherein the circular container body and circular cover include wave bodies on wall surfaces thereof.
