- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates generally to attachment devices. More particularly, the invention concerns a novel attachment device for attachment to a Bluetooth ear piece to enable the ear piece to be conveniently worn about the neck of the user when not in use.
- 2. Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CRF 1.97 and 1.98
- Bluetooth headsets are well known and are widely used. Such headsets provide a wireless connection between the headset and a Bluetooth-enabled phone, making the headsets very popular with cell phone owners. Because the Bluetooth headsets are typically worn about the ear of the cell phone user, the hands-free cell phone ser is permitted to accomplish a variety of tasks while talking on the phone. However, the design of the ear encircling component of the Bluetooth headset is such that after a period of time the user typically experiences substantial discomfort, requiring that the headset be removed for some period of time When this becomes necessary, the headset is often laid down or placed in the user's pocket or purse, thereby subjecting the headset to possible damage or loss. It is this drawback that the present invention seeks to overcome by providing a novel apparatus that can be attached to a Bluetooth ear piece that enables the ear piece to be conveniently worn about the neck of the user following removal of the ear piece from about the ear of the user.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel attachment apparatus for attachment to a Bluetooth ear piece to enable the ear piece to be conveniently worn about the neck of the user.
- Another object of the invention is to provide an attachment apparatus of the aforementioned character that includes an attachment member comprising a body portion having an aperture extending therethrough and an elongate cord extending through the aperture for circumscribing the neck of the user.
- Another object of the invention is to provide an attachment apparatus of the character described in the preceding paragraph in which the body portion of the attachment member has a substantially planar base that carries an adhesive that enables the attachment member to be easily connected to the Bluetooth ear piece.
- Another object of the invention is to provide an attachment apparatus of the type described in the preceding paragraphs that further includes a covering tab that functions to removably cover the adhesive until the attachment member is affixed to the Bluetooth ear piece.
- The foregoing as well as other objects of the invention are realized by the novel attachment apparatus illustrated in the attached drawings and described in the specification which follows.
-
FIG. 1 is a generally perspective, diagrammatic view of one form of the attachment apparatus of the present invention shown connected to a Bluetooth headset and being carried about the neck of the user. -
FIG. 2 is a greatly enlarged, generally perspective view of one form of the attachment member of the attachment apparatus. - Referring to the drawings and particularly to
FIG. 1 , one form of the attachment apparatus of the present invention is there shown and generally designated by thenumeral 14. InFIG. 1 , the attachment apparatus is shown connected to a Bluetooth headset “BT” having an ear encircling member “EM” so as to enable the headset to be conveniently carried about the neck of the user. Theattachment apparatus 14 here comprises anattachment member 16 having abody portion 18. As shown inFIG. 2 ,body portion 18, which has anaperture 20 that extends therethrough, includes a substantiallyplanar base 22 and a pair of upwardly taperingside walls 24 that are connected tobase 22 in the manner shown inFIG. 2 . - To enable the
attachment member 16 to be securely connected to the Bluetooth headset “BT” in the manner shown inFIG. 1 , a readily commerciallyavailable adhesive 26 is deposited on the substantiallyplanar base 22 of said body portion. To protect theadhesive 26 until theattachment member 16 can be connected to the Bluetooth headset, a covering tab 28 (FIG. 2 ) is provided to cover the adhesive in the manner depicted inFIG. 2 . Coveringtab 28 includes an elongate gripping portion 28 a that can be gripped by the user to enable the tab to be cleanly removed from theadhesive 26. - In the manner shown in
FIG. 1 of the drawings, anelongate cord 30 extends throughaperture 20. In use, cord 30 circumscribes the neck of the user in the manner shown inFIG. 1 so that the Bluetooth headset “BT” can be comfortably carried about the neck of the user when not in use. - Having now described the invention in detail in accordance with the requirements of the patent statutes, those skilled in this art will have no difficulty in making changes and modifications in the individual parts or their relative assembly in order to meet specific requirements or conditions. Such changes and modifications may be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention, as set forth in the following claims.
