Abstract

A separable compression garment, comprising: a garment, wherein said garment has a right portion, a left portion; and two fasteners. The two fasteners may comprise a right fastener and a left fastener. The right fastener may run along an entire length of the right portion. The left fastener may run along an entire length of the left portion. The right portion may comprise a right front portion and a right rear portion. The left portion may comprise a left front portion and a left rear portion. The right front portion and the right rear portion of the right portion may be configured to be separably joined by the right fastener. The left front portion and the left rear portion of the left portion may be configured to be separably joined by the left fastener. When both the right portion and the left portion are joined, a joined separable compression garment is created. When both the right portion and the left portion are separated, the garment is substantially not wearable and provides no compression to a wearer.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This Continuation-In-Part Patent Application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional patent application Ser. No. 14/298,930 filed on Aug. 6, 2014, titled “Zip-Away Athletic Rights”, by inventor Gregory Nixon, Jr., the contents of which are expressly incorporated herein by this reference.

FIELD

The present disclosure relates, generally, to compression clothing. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to a compression pant or short that is separable and easily removable, even if the wearer has shoes on. The present disclosure is preferably used with the lower body, such as compression pants and shorts, but may also be used with other parts of the body, including arm and torso compression clothing.

BACKGROUND

Although compression clothing is ubiquitously used by many athletes to improve performance and recovery, the compression clothing generally used suffers from deficiencies, one of which is that they can be difficult to put on and take off. Often, just prior to a track and field competition, athletes struggle to remove the compression clothing that they were wearing. In order to remove the clothing, the athlete's shoes routinely need to be removed first.
Due to the benefits of wearing compression clothing, where at the competitive sporting level, even micro seconds can mean the difference between finishing first or finishing third in a race, athletes need to take advantage of everything they can to perform at their peak. Accordingly, the option of simply not wearing the compression clothing is not an acceptable option to competitive athletes.
Before the present disclosure, nothing existed which would allow an athlete to wear compression clothing and remove it quickly and easily just prior to starting a competitive event. Thus, there is a significant need for compression clothing that may be removed quickly and easily without a hassle and without having to take off the user's shoes.

SUMMARY

To minimize the limitations in the cited references, and to minimize other limitations that will become apparent upon reading and understanding the present specification, the present specification discloses a new and improved separable compression clothing device. The separable compression device may be two connectable portions of a garment that are connected via two fasteners. The fastener may be a zipper.
One embodiment of a separable compression garment may comprise a garment, wherein the garment may have a right portion, a left portion; and two fasteners; wherein the two fasteners may comprise a right fastener and a left fastener; wherein the right fastener may run along an entire length of the right portion; wherein the left fastener may run along an entire length of the left portion; wherein the right portion may comprise a right front portion and a right rear portion; wherein the left portion may comprise a left front portion and a left rear portion; wherein the right front portion and the right rear portion of the right portion may be configured to be separably joined by the right fastener; wherein the left front portion and the left rear portion of the left portion may be configured to be separably joined by the left fastener; wherein, when both the right portion and the left portion are joined, a joined separable compression garment may be created; and wherein, when both the right portion and the left portion are separated, the garment may be substantially not wearable and may provide no compression to a wearer. The garment may be a pair of pants. The right portion may be configured to substantially cover the wearer's right side of the wearer's lower body, and the left portion may be configured to substantially cover the wearer's left side of the wearer's lower body. The two fasteners may be zippers. The two zippers may consist of a left zipper and a right zipper. Each of the two zippers may comprise a top portion and a bottom portion, wherein the top portion faces an interior of the compression pant and the bottom portion faces an outside of the compression pant. The two zippers may be ⅜ inches wide when zipped. The two zippers may be a size 5 zipper. The two zippers may be invisible identical zippers. The separable compression garment may further comprise two comfort flaps; wherein the two comfort flaps may consist of a left comfort flap and a right comfort flap. The left comfort flap may be positioned to be juxtaposed between a left leg of the wearer and the left zipper and wherein the right comfort flap may be positioned to be juxtaposed between the right leg of said wearer and the right zipper. The garment may be constructed of nylon and elastane. The two fasteners may be a different color than a substantial portion of the garment. The garment may be selected from the group of garments consisting of: a cotton, a polyester, a latex, a polyamide, and a neoprene fabric.
One alternative embodiment of the separable compression garment may comprise a garment, wherein the garment has a right portion, a left portion; two fasteners; and two comfort flaps; wherein the two fasteners may comprise a right fastener and a left fastener; wherein the right fastener may run along an entire length of the right portion; wherein the left fastener may run along an entire length of the left portion; wherein the right portion may comprise a right front portion and a right rear portion; wherein the left portion may comprise a left front portion and a left rear portion; wherein the right front portion and the right rear portion of the right portion may be configured to be separably joined by the right fastener; wherein the left front portion and the left rear portion of the left portion may be configured to be separably joined by the left fastener; wherein, when both the right portion and the left portion are joined, a joined separable compression garment may be created; wherein, when both the right portion and the left portion are separated, the garment may be substantially not wearable and provides no compression to a wearer; wherein the garment may be a pair of pants; wherein the right portion may be configured to substantially cover said wearer's right side of the wearer's lower body, and wherein the left portion may be configured to substantially cover the wearer's left side of the wearer's lower body; wherein the two fasteners may be zippers such that there is a left zipper and a right zipper; wherein each of the two zippers comprise a top portion and a bottom portion, wherein the top portion faces an interior of the compression pant and the bottom portion faces an outside of the compression pant; wherein the two zippers may be ⅜ inches wide when zipped; wherein the two zippers may be invisible identical zippers; wherein the two comfort flaps may consist of a left comfort flap and a right comfort flap; wherein the left comfort flap is positioned to be juxtaposed between a left leg of said wearer and said left zipper and wherein said right comfort flap is positioned to be juxtaposed between a right leg of said wearer and said right zipper; wherein the garment is constructed of compression pant may comprise nylon and elastane; wherein the two fasteners may be a different color than a substantial portion of the garment.
It is an object to overcome the limitations of the prior art.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

In the following detailed description of various embodiments, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of various aspects of the embodiments. However, the embodiments may be practiced without some or all of these specific details. In other instances, well-known procedures and/or components have not been described in detail so as not to unnecessarily obscure aspects of the embodiments.
While some embodiments are disclosed here, other embodiments will become obvious to those skilled in the art as a result of the following detailed description. These embodiments are capable of modifications of various obvious aspects, all without departing from the spirit and scope of protection. The Figures, and their detailed descriptions, are to be regarded as illustrative in nature and not restrictive. Also, the reference or non-reference to a particular embodiment shall not be interpreted to limit the scope of protection.
In the following description, certain terminology is used to describe certain features of one or more embodiments. For purposes of the specification, unless otherwise specified, the term “substantially” refers to the complete or nearly complete extent or degree of an action, characteristic, property, state, structure, item, or result. For example, in one embodiment, an object that is “substantially” located within a housing would mean that the object is either completely within a housing or nearly completely within a housing. The exact allowable degree of deviation from absolute completeness may in some cases depend on the specific context. However, generally speaking the nearness of completion will be so as to have the same overall result as if absolute and total completion were obtained. The use of “substantially” is also equally applicable when used in a negative connotation to refer to the complete or near complete lack of an action, characteristic, property, state, structure, item, or result.
As used herein, the terms “approximately” and “about” generally refer to a deviance of within 5% of the indicated number or range of numbers. In one embodiment, the term “approximately” and “about”, may refer to a deviance of between 1-10% from the indicated number or range of numbers.
As used herein, the term “garment” means an article of clothing, which may include pants, shorts, shirts, t-shirts, sleeveless shirts, jackets, sweaters, socks, underwear, undershirts, and any other form of clothing.
FIG. 1 is an illustration of one embodiment of the separable compression pant with the right leg in a fully closed configuration. As shown in FIG. 1, the compression pant 100 may comprise left portion 105, right portion 110, right zipper 115, right zipper pull 120, right rear portion 125, and right front portion 130. The compression pant 100 may comprise various materials, provided that the materials used preferably applies a constricting force to a user's legs when a properly fitted compression pant is worn in a fully closed configuration. One method for the materials used to apply a constricting force is for the material to be an elastic material. Additionally, the compression pant 100 may comprise light-weight or breathable materials, many of which are commonly used in athletic clothing. Some examples of material that may be used in the compression pant 100 to provide a constricting force through elasticity include elastane, and other elastic materials. Some examples of other materials that may be used in the compression pant 100 may include, without limitation, cotton, nylon, polyester, latex, polyamide, and/or neoprene fabric.
The left portion 105 and right portion 110 may be configured to receive a user's left leg and right leg, respectively. The right portion 110 may comprise a right zipper 115, a right zipper pull 120, a right rear portion 125, and a right front portion 130. The right zipper 115 may comprise the usual parts of a standard zipper, such as tape, teeth, a lower stop, and stops. The right zipper pull 120 may comprise the usual parts of a standard zipper pull, including a slide and pull. The right rear portion 125 and right front portion 130 may be on opposite sides of the right zipper 115. The right zipper 115 may traverse the outer portion of the right portion 110 in a substantially vertical manner. The right zipper pull 120 may allow for converting the compression pant 100 from a fully closed position to a fully open position by moving the right zipper pull 120 from a bottom position to a top position, or vice versa depending on the configuration. As shown in FIG. 1, one embodiment of the compression pant 100 may be in a fully closed configuration when the right zipper pull 120 is towards the bottom of the compression pant 100 and the right zipper 115 is zipped. In an alternative embodiment, the right zipper pull 120 may be located towards the top of the compression pant 100 when the compression pant 100 is in a fully closed configuration, and be moved towards the bottom of the compression pant 100 in order to unzip the right zipper 115.
In a preferred embodiment, the compression pant 100 may be substantially black, while the right zipper 115 and right zipper pull 120 are a different color, such as green or pink. This allows for the right zipper 115 and right zipper pull 120 to appear to be a stripe or seam which traverses the right portion 110. Thus, the right zipper 115 and right zipper pull 120 may be inconspicuous.
FIG. 2 is an illustration of one embodiment of the compression pant with the right leg in a partially opened configuration. As shown in FIG. 2, the compression pant 100 may comprise a left portion 105, right portion 110, right zipper 115, right zipper pull 120, right rear portion 125, right front portion 130, and right comfort flap 135. The compression pant 100 depicted in FIG. 2 is similar to the compression pant 100 depicted in FIG. 1. Unlike the compression pant 100 depicted in a fully closed configuration in FIG. 1, the compression pant 100 depicted in FIG. 2 is in a partially open configuration. As shown in FIG. 2, the right zipper pull 120 has traversed a portion of the right zipper 115 in an upwards fashion, thereby unzipping a portion of the right zipper 115. This causes the right rear portion 125 and the right front portion 130 to become partially separated relative to a compression pant 100 in a fully closed configuration. When the compression pant 100 is in a partially open configuration, as shown in FIG. 2, the right comfort flap 135 may be visible. The right comfort flap 135 may traverse an edge of the right front portion 130 in order to prevent the right zipper 115 from coming into contact with the user's body. Alternatively, the right comfort flap 135 may traverse an edge of the right rear portion 125. Preferably, the right comfort flap 135 may comprise a soft fabric and substantially cover a top portion of the right zipper 115. The right comfort flap 135 may also assist in preventing a user's body hair from becoming caught in the right zipper 115.
FIG. 3 is an illustration of one embodiment of the compression pant with the right leg in a fully open configuration. As shown in FIG. 3, the compression pant 100 may comprise a left portion 105, right portion 110, right front zipper half 316, right rear zipper half 317, right zipper pull 120, right rear portion 125, right front portion 130, and right comfort flap 135. Unlike the compression pant 100 depicted in a partially open configuration in FIG. 2, the compression pant 100 depicted in FIG. 3 is in a completely open configuration. As shown in FIG. 3, the right zipper pull 120 has traversed the entirety of the right front zipper half 316 and right rear zipper half 317, which together form the right zipper 115, in an upwards fashion, thereby unzipping the right zipper 115. This may cause the right rear portion 125 and the right front portion 130 to become separated. One benefit in a configuration where both the left portion 105 and right portion 110 have been fully unzipped and are in an open configuration is that the compression pant 100 may be removed quickly and easily, without requiring the removal of the user's shoes. One reason this may be beneficial is because athletes may often wear compression clothing right up until a competition begins for maximum performance, and being able to remove the compression clothing as close to competition as possible increases performance. If an athlete takes one minute to remove their compression pants, and a similar athlete is able to remove their compression pants in a couple seconds as would be possible with the compression pant depicted herein, then the athlete using the compression pant depicted herein would have an advantage.
FIG. 4 is an illustration of one embodiment of the compression pant in a fully closed configuration. As shown in FIG. 4, the compression pant 100 may comprise a right portion 110, left portion 105, left zipper 415, left zipper pull 420, left rear portion 425, and left front portion 430. The compression pant 100 may comprise various materials, provided that the materials used apply a constricting force to a user's legs when a properly fitted compression pant is worn in a fully closed configuration. One method for the materials used to apply a constricting force is for the material to be elastic. Additionally, the compression pant 100 may comprise light-weight or breathable materials, many of which are commonly used in athletic clothing. Some examples of material that may be used in the compression pant 100 to provide a constricting force through elasticity include elastane, and other elastic materials. Some examples of other materials that may be used in the compression pant 100 may include cotton, nylon, polyester, latex, and polyamide. The right portion 110 and left portion 105 may be configured to receive a user's right leg and left leg, respectively. The left portion 105 may comprise a left zipper 415, a left zipper pull 420, a left rear portion 425, and a left front portion 430. The left zipper 415 may comprise the usual parts of a standard zipper, such as tape, teeth, a lower stop, and stops. The left zipper pull 420 may comprise the usual parts of a standard zipper pull, including a slide and pull. The left rear portion 425 and left front portion 430 may be on opposite sides of the left zipper 415. The left zipper 415 may traverse the outer portion of the left portion 105 in a substantially vertical manner. The left zipper pull 420 may allow for converting the compression pant 100 from a closed position to an open position by moving the left zipper pull 420 from a bottom position to a top position, or vice versa depending on the configuration. As shown in FIG. 4, one embodiment of the compression pant 100 may be in a fully closed configuration when the left zipper pull 420 is towards the bottom of the compression pant 100 and the left zipper 415 is zipped. In an alternative embodiment, the left zipper pull 420 may be located towards the top of the compression pant 100 when the compression pant 100 is in a fully closed configuration, and be moved towards the bottom of the compression pant 100 in order to unzip the left zipper 415.
In a preferred embodiment, the compression pant 100 may be substantially black, while the left zipper 415 and left zipper pull 420 are a different color, such as green or pink. This allows for the left zipper 415 and left zipper pull 420 to appear to be a stripe or seam which traverses the left portion 105. Thus, the left zipper 415 and left zipper pull 420 may be inconspicuous.
FIG. 5 is an illustration of one embodiment of the compression pant with the left leg in a partially opened configuration. As shown in FIG. 5, the compression pant 100 may comprise a right portion 110, left portion 105, left zipper 415, left zipper pull 420, left rear portion 425, left front portion 430, and left comfort flap 435. Unlike the compression pant 100 depicted in a fully closed configuration in FIG. 4, the compression pant 100 depicted in FIG. 5 is in a partially open configuration. As shown in FIG. 5, the left zipper pull 420 has traversed a portion of the left zipper 415 in an upwards fashion, thereby unzipping a portion of the left zipper 415. This causes the left rear portion 425 and the left front portion 430 to become partially separated relative to a compression pant 100 in a fully closed configuration. When the compression pant 100 is in a partially open configuration, as shown in FIG. 5, the left comfort flap 435 may be visible. The left comfort flap 435 may traverse an edge of the left front portion 430 in order to prevent the left zipper 415 from coming into contact with the user's body. Alternatively, the left comfort flap 435 may traverse an edge of the left rear portion 425. Preferably, the left comfort flap 435 may comprise a soft fabric and substantially cover a top portion of the left zipper 415. The left comfort flap 435 may also assist in preventing a user's body hair from becoming caught in the left zipper 415.
FIG. 6 is an illustration of one embodiment of the compression pant with the left leg in a fully open configuration. As shown in FIG. 6, the compression pant 100 may comprise a right portion 110, left portion 105, left front zipper half 616, left rear zipper half 617, left zipper pull 420, left rear portion 425, left front portion 430, and left comfort flap 435. The compression pant 100 depicted in FIG. 6 is similar to the compression pant 100 depicted in FIG. 5. Unlike the compression pant 100 depicted in a partially open configuration in FIG. 5, the compression pant 100 depicted in FIG. 6 is in a completely open configuration. As shown in FIG. 6, the left zipper pull 420 has traversed the entirety of the left front zipper half 616 and left rear zipper half 617 which together form a left zipper 415, in an upwards fashion, thereby unzipping the left zipper 415. This may cause the left rear portion 425 and the left front portion 430 to become separated. One benefit in a configuration where both the right portion 110 and left portion 105 have been fully unzipped and are in an open configuration is that the compression pant 100 may be removed quickly and easily, without requiring the removal of the user's shoes. One reason this may be beneficial is because athletes may often wear compression clothing left up until a competition begins for maximum performance, and being able to remove the compression clothing as close to competition as possible increases performance. If an athlete takes one minute to remove their compression pants, and a similar athlete is able to remove their compression pants in a couple seconds as would be possible with the compression pant depicted herein, then the athlete using the compression pant depicted herein would have an advantage.
FIG. 7 is an illustration of a front view of one embodiment of the compression pant in a fully closed configuration. As shown in FIG. 7, the compression pant 100 may comprise a left portion 105, right portion 110, a right zipper pull 120, and left zipper pull 420. As shown in FIG. 7, the left zipper pull 420 and right zipper pull 120 may operate independently, such that the left portion 105 and the right portion 110 may be converted from a fully closed configuration to a fully open configuration independently.
FIG. 8 is a close up illustration of one embodiment of a fastening system which may be used in the above embodiments. As shown in FIG. 8, the fastening system 800 may comprise a zipper 805 and zipper pull 830. The zipper 805 may comprise a top portion 810, a bottom portion 815, a stopper 820, and teeth 825. The stopper 820 may prevent the zipper pull 830 from becoming detached from the zipper 805. The teeth 825 may protrude from the top portion 810 of the zipper 805. The zipper pull 830 may be located substantially along the bottom portion 815 of the zipper 805 and a view of the bottom portion 815 may substantially include only the zipper pull 830 and tape of the zipper 805. Thus, when the fastening system 800 is used in combination with the compression pants depicted in FIGS. 1-7, the top portion 810 may face inwards, which may cause the teeth 825 to also face inwards, thereby not being visible while the compression pant is in use. The compression pant may comprise a comfort flap, as depicted in FIGS. 2-3 and 5-7, to prevent irritation of a user's skin by the teeth 825. The bottom portion 815 may face outwards and be visible. Preferably, the bottom portion 815 is relatively smooth or aesthetically pleasing by appearing as a decorative vertical stripe design choice. Preferably, the zipper 805 and zipper pull 810 used are a size 5 zipper and zipper pull as designated by the zipper manufacturer YKK. The zipper 805 may be approximately ⅜ inches wide, and may be an invisible identical zippers.
FIG. 9 is an illustration of a front view of one embodiment of a compression shirt in a fully closed configuration. As shown in FIG. 9, the compression shirt 900 may comprise a right side 910, left side 905, right zipper pull 921, and left zipper pull 922. The zipper pulls 921, 922 may be configured to zip and unzip zippers that traverse from the bottom of the compression shirt 900 on the right side 910 and left side 905 to the ends of the right sleeve 911 and left sleeve 906, respectively. In an alternative embodiment, the sleeves of the compression shirt 900 may be long sleeves, or the sleeves may not be present, as would be in a sleeveless shirt.

They are intended to have a reasonable range that is consistent with the functions to which they relate and with what is customary in the art to which they pertain.

Also, although not explicitly recited, one or more embodiments may be practiced in combination or conjunction with one another. Furthermore, the reference or non-reference to a particular embodiment shall not be interpreted to limit the scope of protection. It is intended that the scope of protection not be limited by this detailed description, but by the claims and the equivalents to the claims that are appended hereto.

Claims

What is claimed is:

1. A separable compression garment, comprising:

a garment, wherein said garment has a right portion, a left portion; and

two fasteners;

wherein said two fasteners comprise a right fastener and a left fastener;

wherein said right fastener runs along an entire length of said right portion;

wherein said left fastener runs along an entire length of said left portion;

wherein said right portion comprises a right front portion and a right rear portion;

wherein said left portion comprises a left front portion and a left rear portion;

wherein said right front portion and said right rear portion of said right portion are configured to be separably joined by said right fastener;

wherein said left front portion and said left rear portion of said left portion are configured to be separably joined by said left fastener;

wherein, when both said right portion and said left portion are joined, a joined separable compression garment is created; and

wherein, when both said right portion and said left portion are separated, said garment is substantially not wearable and provides no compression to a wearer.

2. The separable compression garment of claim 1, wherein said garment is a pair of pants.

3. The separable compression garment of claim 2, wherein said right portion is configured to substantially cover said wearer's right side of said wearer's lower body, and wherein said left portion is configured to substantially cover said wearer's left side of said wearer's lower body.

4. The separable compression garment of claim 3, wherein said two fasteners are zippers, such that there is a left zipper and a right zipper.

5. The separable compression garment of claim 4, wherein each of said two zippers comprise a top portion and a bottom portion, wherein said top portion faces an interior of said compression pant and said bottom portion faces an outside of said compression pant.

6. The separable compression garment of claim 5, wherein said two zippers are ⅜ inches wide when zipped.

7. The separable compression garment of claim 5, wherein said two zippers are a size 5 zipper.

8. The separable compression garment of claim 5, wherein said two zippers are invisible identical zippers.

9. The separable compression garment of claim 4, further comprising two comfort flaps;

wherein said two comfort flaps consist of a left comfort flap and a right comfort flap.

10. The separable compression garment of claim 9, wherein said left comfort flap is positioned to be juxtaposed between a left leg of said wearer and said left zipper and wherein said right comfort flap is positioned to be juxtaposed between a right leg of said wearer and said right zipper.

11. The separable compression garment of claim 1, wherein said garment is constructed of nylon and elastane.

12. The separable compression garment of claim 1, wherein said two fasteners are a different color than a substantial portion of said garment.

13. The separable compression garment of claim 1, wherein said garment is selected from the group of garments consisting of: a cotton, a polyester, a latex, a polyamide, and a neoprene fabric.

14. A separable compression garment, comprising:

a garment, wherein said garment has a right portion, a left portion;

two fasteners; and

two comfort flaps;

wherein said two fasteners comprise a right fastener and a left fastener;

wherein said right fastener runs along an entire length of said right portion;

wherein said left fastener runs along an entire length of said left portion;

wherein, when both said right portion and said left portion are joined, a joined separable compression garment is created;

wherein, when both said right portion and said left portion are separated, said garment is substantially not wearable and provides no compression to a wearer;

wherein said garment is a pair of pants;

wherein said right portion is configured to substantially cover said wearer's right side of said wearer's lower body, and wherein said left portion is configured to substantially cover said wearer's left side of said wearer's lower body;

wherein said two fasteners are zippers such that there is a left zipper and a right zipper;

wherein each of said two zippers comprise a top portion and a bottom portion, wherein said top portion faces an interior of said compression pant and said bottom portion faces an outside of said compression pant;

wherein said two zippers are ⅜ inches wide when zipped;

wherein said two zippers are invisible identical zippers;

wherein said two comfort flaps consist of a left comfort flap and a right comfort flap;

wherein said left comfort flap is positioned to be juxtaposed between a left leg of said wearer and said left zipper and wherein said right comfort flap is positioned to be juxtaposed between a right leg of said wearer and said right zipper;

wherein said garment is constructed of nylon and elastane;

wherein said two fasteners are a different color than a substantial portion of said garment.
