Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates generally to a seat cushion or a bed cushion, and more particularly to a cushion with changeable supporting sections.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • A conventional seat cushion is placed on a chair and a conventional bed cushion is placed on a bed. Basically, the entire sitting face or lying face of the cushion is made of soft and elastic material such as foam rubber or gel or is filled with a fluid to provide comfortable sitting or laying effect. There is an improved cushion having a sitting face or lying face designed with multiple raised bumps arranged at intervals. Such cushion has ventilation effect and is able to provide comfortable sitting or laying effect for a bed patient as well as avoid bedsores.
  • In some cases, some parts of the body of a user or a bed patient may have external injuries, painful wounds or bedsores. When sitting or lying, the user or the bed patient had better not to compress the injuries or the bedsores. Under such circumstance, not only the patient's pain can be relieved, but also the bedsores can be cured. However, the conventional seat cushion or bed cushion has a full cushion area so that it is impossible for the cushion to avoid the injuries of a patient. Some of the conventional seat cushions or bed cushions are designed with hollows or perforations to overcome the above problem. However, such cushions have fixed cushion sections that cannot be changed in position in accordance with different positions or sizes of the patient's injuries or bedsores.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is therefore a primary object of the present invention to provide a cushion with changeable supporting sections. The cushion sections of the cushion can be readily changed in accordance with different requirements. Especially, the cushion serves as a medical aid for avoiding bedsores.
  • It is a further object of the present invention to provide the above cushion with changeable supporting sections, which has better freeness in use space.
  • To achieve the above and other objects, the cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention at least includes a substrate section, at least one supplemental section and a supplemental space. The substrate section has a predetermined configuration and a certain thickness. The substrate section is placed on an article such as a chair, a bed or a mattress. The substrate section has two opposite faces. A first cushion section is disposed on one face of the substrate section. The supplemental section has a predetermined configuration and a certain thickness. The supplemental section has two opposite faces. A second cushion section is disposed on one face of the supplemental section. The supplemental space is disposed on the substrate section and fully or not fully surrounded by the substrate section. The supplemental section is arranged and placed in the supplemental space in a suitable position, whereby the substrate section and the supplemental section are positioned in predetermined positions relative to each other to supplement the thickness of the substrate section.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • Please refer to FIGS. 1 to 4. The cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention at least includes a substrate section 12, at least one supplemental section 14 and a supplemental space 16.
  • The substrate section 12 has a predetermined configuration and a certain thickness. The substrate section 12 can be placed on an article such as a chair, a bed or a mattress. The substrate section 12 has two opposite faces. A first cushion section 22 is disposed on one face of the substrate section 12. The substrate section 12 can be integrally made of an elastic material such as gel material, rubber material or thermoplastic urethane. The first cushion section 22 can be a raised section (as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2) or composed of multiple raised sections arranged at intervals (as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4). The first cushion section 22 can be a solid body or a hollow body.
  • The supplemental section 14 has a predetermined configuration and a certain thickness. The supplemental section 14 has two opposite faces. A second cushion section 42 is disposed on one face of the supplemental section 14. The supplemental section 14 can be integrally made of an elastic material such as gel material, rubber material or thermoplastic urethane. The supplemental section 14 can be a raised section (as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2) or composed of multiple raised sections arranged at intervals (as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4). The supplemental section 14 can be a solid body or a hollow body.
  • The supplemental space 16 is disposed on the substrate section 12 and fully surrounded by the substrate section 12. The supplemental section 14 can be arranged and placed in the supplemental space 16 in a suitable position, whereby the substrate section 12 and the supplemental section 14 are positioned in predetermined positions relative to each other to supplement the thickness of the substrate section 12.
  • Please further refer to FIGS. 1 to 3. The cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention further includes a coating layer 18. The coating layer 18 is coated on the outer face of the first cushion section 22 or the outer face of the second cushion section 42. The coating layer 18 can be made of polymer material and coated on the outer face of the first cushion section 22 or the outer face of the second cushion section 42 by means of surface treatment. Accordingly, the cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention has bright and beautiful cushion sections with high-quality feeling. Please now refer to FIG. 5. In another embodiment of the cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention, the coating layer 18 is a fiber fabric coated on the outer face of the first cushion section 22 or the outer face of the second cushion section 42 by means of attachment.
  • Certainly, another coating layer can be further coated on the other face of the substrate section 12 and/or the other face of the supplemental section 14.
  • Please now refer to FIGS. 6 and 7. In still another embodiment of the cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention, the supplemental space 16 is not fully surrounded by the substrate section 12. That is, the substrate section 12 is U-shaped. This provides better freeness in use space and can also achieve the object of the present invention.
  • In the above embodiments of the present invention as shown in FIGS. 1 to 7, there are four supplemental sections 14 with two sizes. Please now refer to FIGS. 8 to 13, which show some other embodiments of the present invention. In these embodiments, the number and size of the supplemental sections 14 are changed and the supplemental sections 14 are placed in the supplemental space 16 of the substrate section 12 in predetermined positions to meet the requirement of a user that when the user sits or lies on the cushion, the user desires the supplemental sections 14 to avoid some parts of his/her body and not to compress these parts. In other words, similarly, the positions of the supplemental sections 14 can be changed in accordance with a user's requirement.
  • Please now refer to FIGS. 14 to 19. In some other embodiments of the cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention, the coating layer 18 can be made of polymer plastic material and pre-shaped with a recess respectively corresponding to the configuration of the outer periphery of the first cushion section 22 and the configuration of the outer periphery of the second cushion section 42 for receiving the first and second cushion sections 22, 42. In this case, the present invention has more rigid space structure. In other words, the first and second cushion sections 22, 42 can be defined as an elastic material received in the coating layer 18. Another coating layer 18′ is also made of polymer plastic material and pre-shaped into a sheet body corresponding to the configuration of the outer periphery of the other face of the substrate section 12 and the configuration of the outer periphery of the other face of the supplemental section 14 for attaching to the other face of the substrate section 12 and the other face of the supplemental section 14. The other coating layer 18′ has an area larger than the area of the outer periphery of the other face of the substrate section 12. Accordingly, the substrate section 12 is positioned on the other coating layer 18′. The supplemental section 14 can be conveniently arranged and placed on the other coating layer 18′.
  • In the embodiments as shown in FIGS. 14 to 19, the elastic material as which the first and second cushion sections 22, 42 are defined can be a fluid such as nitrogen, air or water. This can also achieve the effect of the present invention.
  • Please now refer to FIGS. 20 and 21. In some other embodiments of the cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention, the first cushion section 22 of the substrate section 12 is a raised section. The second cushion section 42 of the supplemental section 14 is composed of multiple raised sections arranged at intervals. This can also achieve the effect of the present invention.
  • Please now refer to FIGS. 22 and 23. In another embodiment of the cushion with changeable supporting sections of the present invention, the supplemental space 16 is not fully surrounded by the substrate section 12. In this embodiment, another coating layer 18′ has an area larger than the area of the substrate section 12. Therefore, after the other coating layer 18′ is attached to the other face of the substrate section 12, the substrate section 12 is positioned on the other coating layer 18′ and oppositely arranged on two sides of the other coating layer 18′ at an interval. This provides better freeness in use space.
  • The above embodiments are only used to illustrate the present invention, not intended to limit the scope thereof. Many modifications of the above embodiments can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention.
