Abstract
A bodily support assembly includes a vest that may be worn. A pair of pockets is provided and each of the pockets is coupled to the vest. A pair of panels is provided and each of the panels is removably insertable into an associated one of the pockets. Each of the panels is comprised of a resiliently bendable material. Thus, each of the panels may support the back when the user bends over thereby inhibiting the user from being injured when the user bends over.
Description
- The disclosure relates to support devices and more particularly pertains to a new support device for supporting a user's back when the user bends over.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a vest that may be worn.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a bodily support assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a right side view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a cross sectional view taken along line 4-4 ofFIG. 1 of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new support device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the bodily support assembly 10 generally comprises avest 12 that may be worn. Thevest 12 has aback side 14, a pair oflateral sides 16 and afront side 18. Thefront side 18 is longitudinally split to define afirst mating edge 20 and asecond mating edge 22. Thus, thevest 12 may be worn around a torso having theback side 14 covering a back of a user. Each of thefront side 18 and theback side 14 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material. - The
vest 12 has anouter surface 24 and aninner surface 26. Afirst coupler 28 is provided and thefirst coupler 28 is coupled to theouter surface 24. Thefirst coupler 28 is coextensive with thefirst mating edge 20. Aflap 30 extends away from thesecond mating edge 22 theflap 30 is substantially coextensive with thesecond mating edge 22. - A
second coupler 32 is coupled theinner surface 26 corresponding to theflap 30 and thesecond coupler 32 is coextensive with theflap 30. Thefirst coupler 28 and thesecond coupler 32 are complementary. Thus, the first 20 and second 22 mating edges are matable to each other thereby retaining thevest 12 on the torso. Each of thefirst coupler 28 and thesecond coupler 32 may comprise a hook and loop fastener or the like. Theflap 30 may be extended a selected distance beyond thefirst mating edge 20 when thevest 12 is worn. Thus, thevest 12 may accommodate a variety of torso sizes. - Each of the
lateral sides 16 has an associated one of a pair ofholes 34 extending therethrough and each of theholes 34 may have an arm extended therethrough. Thevest 12 has awaist portion 36. Thewaist portion 36 extends upwardly from a bottom edge 38 of thevest 12 toward amiddle 40 of thevest 12. Thewaist portion 36 is coextensive with the bottom edge 38. Thewaist portion 36 surrounds hips when thevest 12 is worn and thewaist portion 36 is comprised of a resiliently stretchable material. Thus, thewaist portion 36 inhibits thevest 12 from sliding upwardly on the torso when the user bends over. - A pair of
pockets 42 is provided and each of thepockets 42 is coupled to thevest 12. Each of thepockets 42 is positioned on theback side 14 and thepockets 42 are spaced apart from each other. Each of thepockets 42 is longitudinally oriented on theback side 14. Each of thepockets 42 extends substantially between thewaist portion 36 and acollar 44 of thevest 12. Each of thepockets 42 has atop end 46 and thetop end 46 of each of thepockets 42 is open. - A pair of
panels 48 is provided and each of thepanels 48 is removably insertable into an associated one of thepockets 42. Each of thepanels 48 is comprised of a resiliently bendable material. Thus, each of thepanels 48 supports the user's back when the user bends over thereby inhibiting the user from being injured when the user bends over. Each of thepanels 48 supports a percentage of the torso's weight when the user bends over. Thus, the user's lower back muscles are protected from injury while the user wears thevest 12. - In use, each of the
panels 48 is insertably positioned within an associated one of thepockets 42. Thevest 12 is worn around the user's torso and thefirst coupler 28 and thesecond coupler 32 are mated. Thewaist portion 36 frictionally engages the user's hips thereby inhibiting thevest 12 from sliding upwardly on the user's torso. Each of thepanels 48 supports a percentage of the torso's weight when the user bends over. Thus, the user's lower back muscles are protected from injury. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
