- A plurality of PCIE slots are generally mounted to a circuit board of an electronic device, such as a computer and a server. The plurality of PCIE slots are configured to couple to a plurality of data storage devices, such as expansion cards, for storage expansion.
- Implementations of the present technology will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the attached figures.
-
FIG. 1 is an assembled, isometric view of an embodiment of an electronic device with a plurality of data storage devices. -
FIG. 2 is a partially exploded, isometric view of the electronic device ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is an assembled, isometric view of one of the plurality of data storage devices ofFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 4 is an exploded, isometric view of the data storage device ofFIG. 3 . - It will be appreciated that for simplicity and clarity of illustration, where appropriate, reference numerals have been repeated among the different figures to indicate corresponding or analogous elements. In addition, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the embodiments described herein. However, it will be understood by those of ordinary skill in the art that the embodiments described herein can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, methods, procedures, and components have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the related relevant feature being described. Also, the description is not to be considered as limiting the scope of the embodiments described herein. The drawings are not necessarily to scale and the proportions of certain parts may be exaggerated to better illustrate details and features of the present disclosure.
- Several definitions that apply throughout this disclosure will now be presented.
- The term “substantially” is defined to be essentially conforming to the particular dimension, shape, or other feature that the term modifies, such that the component need not be exact. For example, “substantially cylindrical” means that the object resembles a cylinder, but can have one or more deviations from a true cylinder. The term “comprising,” when utilized, means “including, but not necessarily limited to”; it specifically indicates open-ended inclusion or membership in the so-described combination, group, series and the like.
-
FIG. 1 andFIG. 2 illustrate an electronic device of an embodiment including achassis 10, amotherboard 30 mounted in thechassis 10, and a plurality of side by sidedata storage devices 50 coupled to themotherboard 30. - The

In at least one embodiment, thelatching piece 516 is substantially perpendicular to thebase piece 512. Thebase piece 512 defines aslot 5121. Twolatching posts 5123 extend from thebase piece 512 and are located at opposite sides of theslot 5121. Thelatching piece 516 defines acutout 5161. Aconnector 513 is secured to thecircuit board 51. Acoupling end 517 is located in an end of thecircuit board 51 adjacent to thepositioning piece 514. Thecircuit board 51 further defines a plurality oflocking holes 519. - The
frame 53 can include atop plate 531, twoside plates 533 connected to thetop plate 531, and afront plate 535 perpendicularly connected to thetop plate 531 and the twoside plates 533. Afirst mounting plate 537 perpendicularly extends outwards from a bottom edge of eachside plate 533. Asecond mounting plate 539 perpendicularly extends outwards from a bottom edge of thefront plate 535. Atab 536 perpendicularly extends outwards from a side edge of eachside plate 533. Each of thefirst mounting plate 537, thesecond mounting plate 539, and thetab 536 defines at least one throughhole 5371. Eachside plate 533 defines alatching hole 5331 adjacent to thetab 536. Ablock 5351 extends from eachside plate 533 adjacent to thefront plate 535. Theframe 53 defines an opening 54 opposite to thefront plate 535. - Each side surface of the
