Description

    CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
  • This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 62/352,594, filed Jun. 21, 2016, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to electronic device accessories and, more particularly, to a portable electronic device case.
  • Electronic devices, such as smart phones and iPads, are ubiquitous if not a necessity in today's modern life. When traveling, or in other situations requiring their use while on ‘the go,’ holding such devices may be burdensome as well as increase the likelihood of their getting misplaced or damaged—for example, on a long flight one's smart phone can be left on the plane or fall between the seats if not being secured by hand. Furthermore, having to hold the smart phone in one's hand for the duration of the flight, say to listen to music on the smart phone, can be at least inconvenient.
  • As can be seen, there is a need for a portable electronic device case that secures and thus eliminates the need to hand hold a plurality of electronic devices while charging or using them, while maintaining their accessibility over a hands-free journey.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In one aspect of the present invention, an electronic device case includes a plurality of walls defining a compartment space, wherein the plurality of walls is movable between a closed configuration and an open configuration providing access to the compartment space; a plurality of grommets disposed along the plurality of walls, wherein each grommet communicates through its respective wall; and two of the plurality of grommets disposed on adjacent walls of the plurality of walls so as to be aligned in the closed configuration.
  • In another aspect of the present invention, the electronic device case includes plurality of walls defining a compartment space, wherein the plurality of walls is movable between a closed configuration and an open configuration providing access to the compartment space; a detachable fastener provided along a periphery of the adjacent walls of the plurality of walls, wherein the detachable fastener seals the closed configuration; a plurality of grommets disposed along the plurality of walls, wherein each grommet communicates through its respective wall; two of the plurality of grommets disposed near a corner of the plurality of walls on adjacent walls of the plurality of walls so as to be aligned in the closed configuration; an annular ring extending between said two of the plurality of grommets; and at least one electronic device, each electronic device having a cable connected thereto, wherein the at least one electronic device is housed in the compartment space in the closed configuration, and wherein each cable extends through one grommet of the plurality of grommets.
  • These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is an exploded view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention; and
  • FIG. 3 is a section detail view of an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
  • Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides an electronic device case adapted to secure electronic devices in a compartment space defined by a plurality of walls. A wall of the plurality of walls may be made from PVC matte or transparent material so that the electronic devices are visible while within the compartment space. The electronic device case may provide a plurality of grommets so that cables connected to the electronic devices may egress through the grommets so as to be utilized outside the compartment space, while the electronic devices are secured therein.
  • Referring now to FIGS. 1 through 3, the present invention may include an electronic device case 100. The electronic device case 100 may provide a plurality of walls 10 defining a compartment space for simultaneously housing a plurality of electronic devices 20. A detachable fastener 12/14, such as a zipper, may be disposed between at least two of the plurality of walls 10, thereby enabling a user to access and secure the compartment space when needed through moving the electronic device case 100 between a closed configuration (see FIG. 1) and an open configuration (see FIG. 2).
  • At least one wall of the plurality of walls 12 may be formed from a PVC matte-like material that is adapted to accommodate differing rigid bulky shapes of the plurality of electronic devices 20, yet make said plurality of electronic devices 20 visible while in the compartment space. In certain embodiments, the at least one wall may be made of a continuous sheet of transparent material.
  • At least one grommet 16 may be provided by a front wall 24 of the plurality of walls 10. Each grommet 16 may be dimensioned and adapted so that cables/wires 22 of electronic devices 20 may slide therethrough, extending from the compartment space for use outside the compartment space, while the electronic devices 20 are secured therein. Each grommet 16 communicates with the compartment space. Each grommet 16 may be disposed near a corner of the front wall 24. In certain embodiments, the grommet 16 may be within two and a half inches of a periphery of the front wall 24.
  • Two grommets 16 may be disposed on adjacent walls 10 so that they align when the electronic device case 100 is in the closed configuration. Thereby, an annular clasp 18 may be disposed through both two grommets 16 so the annular clasp can be attached to other objects or used as a handle or the like.
  • A method of using the present invention may include the following. The electronic device case 100 disclosed above may be provided. A user may place a plurality of electronic devices 20 in the compartment space. Then the user may slide a cable 22 of at least one of the plurality of electronic devices 20 through an adjacent grommet 16 before securing said compartment space via the detachable fastener 12. Thereby the user may plug the cable 22 into, say, a power source so that they can—hands free—enjoy a functionality of the plurality of electronic devices 20 that are secured in the compartment space, yet visible through the front wall 24.
  • It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
