SURF TOBOGGAN Filed Jan. '7, 1955 ML Y ATTORNEY Patented Apr. 7, 1936 UNITED STATES PATENT CFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to liners for surf toboggans of the character set forth in U. S. Letters Patent granted April 16, 1918, and numbered 1,262,989, and has for the primary object the provision of a device which will retain the inflatable elements of the toboggan in proper relation to one another and to the outer covering and will prevent chaiing or wearing of the latter and the covering of said inflatable elements and is so constructed that one of the inflatable elements may be readily removed and replaced Without disturbing the other inflatable elements or the liner within the outer covering.
With these and other objects in view, this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a top plan View, partly in section, illustrating a liner adapted to a surf toboggan of the patent referred to heretofore and is constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional View illus trating the same.
Figure 3 is a perspective view illustrating one of the sections of the liner.
Figure 4 is a perspective view illustrating a cover for one of the inflatable elements.
Figure 5 is a perspective View illustrating one of the inflating elements.
Referring inv detail to the drawing, the numeral I indicates the outer covering of the toboggan constructed of any material suitable for the purpose and held extended by removable inflating of chambers 1 by partitions 8. The partitions 8 A are stitched or otherwise secured to opposite walls l of the liner. The sections of the liner are arranged within the outer covering in endwise relation so that the chambers align for the purpose of receiving the inflatable elements 2 with their Coverings 3 mounted thereon. The liner aids in retaining the inatable elements in proper relation to one another and prevents chang to the coverings l and 3. The liner further reinforces the toboggan throughout its length and width and due to its construction it will permit any one of the iniatable elements and its respective covering 3 to be removed and replaced therein when desired.
Having described the invention, I claim:
In combination with a surf toboggan having an outer covering and a plurality of separable inflatable elements each provided with an inner covering removable therefrom, a reinforcing liner arranged in said outer covering and having chambers extending longitudinally of the outer cover and each chamber receiving an inflatable element and its covering to prevent the latter from chang itself against the outer covering and acting to retain said inflatable elements spaced from each other, said liner including intermediate and end sections separable from each other.
