The body A of the satchel or bag is composed of leather or other suitable material, attached ill the usual manner to metallic hinged jaws B. The jaws are provided with the usual fastening devices, (3, and with a suitable handle, I). The body is preferably adapted to collapse and expand.
A false side, E, of fur or other suitable nonconducting material, is stitched to one side of the body A, along the top and bottom edges thereof. This false side, being open at both ends, forms, in connection with the side proper part of Letters Patent No. 266,354, dated October 24, 1882,
Application filed July 20, 1882. (No model.)
of the bag or satchel, a hand pocket or mud. The adjacentfaces of the body and false side are provided with a wadded lining, a, which serves to retain warmth.
A false side, F, is stitched to the opposite side of the body A along the end and bottom edges thereof. This false side, being open at the top, forms aconvenient pocket for the handkerchief or other articles, and is preferably lined with silk. This false side F is composed of fur, plush, 01' other soft material which will not injure the dress of the user when in contact therewith, as is the case when the article is used as a muff. I
This combined satchel and mud constitutes a very convenient and handsome article for ladies use. 1
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A satchel provided with duplicate or false sides, both composed of fur, plush, or other like material, one of which forms a hand pocket or muff, while the other forms a handkerchief-receptacle, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
