SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 282,126, dated July 31, 1883.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK'A. SIMONDS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pipe Tongs or Wrenches; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exactdescription of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to pipe-tongs having a pivoted jaw and one handle.
The object and nature of my invention will appear from the subj oined description and claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 represents a side elevation of the device; Fig. 2, a top plan View, and Figs. 3 and 4 details.

What I claim as new is 1. In pipe -tongs, the combination of a handle having a fixed jaw, a movable jaw having stop 1), loop 0, and a spring, 0, rigidly attached by one end, and loose in loop 0 atthe other end, substantially as described.
