DISPLAY-RACK.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 573,835, dated December 22, 1896. Application filed November 5, 1895. Serial No. 568,027. (No model.)

To (1. whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, JAMES M. TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dubois, in the county of Olearfield and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Racks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, andexact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to racks for displaying articles of merchandise or other goods in store-windows and other places and is adapted to be hung upon a rod so as to occupy an inclined position,whereby articles placed thereon will be in a position which will display them to the best advantage.

The invention consists in the novel construction of a device hereinafter fully de scribed and claimed.

The figure in the drawing is a perspective view of a display-rack constructed in accordance with my invention.

In the said drawing the reference-numeral 1 designates two parallel side wires having their lower ends bent outwardly at right angles, forming arms 2, which serve as sup ports for an article placed on the rack. The upper ends of these wires are curved backwardly, forming arms'3, and then extending upwardly, forming straight arms 4, the ends of which are bent into hooks 5, which are adapted to engage with a rod or other object by which the rack is suspended. The said wires 1 are made in two parts, one of which is provided with a sleeve 6, within which the other part works, so that the rack may be adjusted with respect to its length. The top and bottom wires and intermediate cross wires or rods 8 are also similarly constructed and hereby permit of the rack being adjusted with respect to its width.

The side wires 1 are provided with hooks 7, which engage telescopic transverse rods 8, secured to the upper parts of the said wires, by means of which the rack is firmly held in its adjusted position.

By the above construction the rack when suspended from a rod or other support will occupy an inclined position, as shown.

The rack may be provided with a bottom or back, if desired, of any suitable material.

A rack constructed as above will'be found very advantageous in use, as, owing to the supporting-arms being set at an angle to the side wires, the rack will occupy an inclined position, whereby the goods placed thereon will be presented to the eye in the best position for inspection.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. A display-rack, consisting of the side rods or wires and the cross rods or wires uniting the side wires, each of the side rods or wires formed of two slidably-connected sections, one of which is provided with a hook to engage one of the cross rods or wires, and each of the cross rods or wires being formed of two slidably-connected sections.

2. A display-rack, consisting of two suspending-arms 4, 4, adjustable parallel sides 1, 1, provided with the hooks 7,7, and sleeves 6, 6, and the cross-rods 8 substantially as described.
