IMPROVEMENT IN PINS 'EUR THE ATTACHMENT 0F BOWS AND ROSETTES.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:

That I, LAVINIA H. FOY, of the city and county of Worcester, and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new anduseful Improvements in Bow and Rosette Pins; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying' drawings, forming a. part of this specification, in which Figure-1 represents a front view of a bow attached by one of my improved pins.

Figure 2 represents a perspective view of my improved pin; and

Figure 3 represents a longitudinal section of my improved pin, and the bow shown vin iig. I.

In v'the drawings, represents the body or frame part of the device, which has a pin, a, hinged to one and, as seen at ZJ, and a hook, a, attached at the other end to receive the point d of pin a. Upon the other side of body A ishinged another pin, e, as seen at while a shield, y, is attached to the end of frame A to receive the point of pin e, as fully shown in figs. 2 and Slof the accompanying drawings. This shield prevents all injury to the lingers while attaching the bow to the collar or dress. The device is shown applied to use in g. 1 in securing the bow B to C, in which case it will be observed that the device is entirely covered and shielded. from view, while at the same time the bow B is sustained in a secure and proper position, and that, too, without either of the ends D D or bows E E being fastened or so attached as to interfere with their neat appearance.

By reference to iig. 3 of the drawings it will be seen that the pin e is passed through the central part of the back of the bow, and the point h sprung under the shield g, and then the bow is fastened or secured to the collar or dress by means of the pin a on the other side of the bar or freine of the pin. The usual mode ot' attaching bows or rosettes is to pin them on, in which case two common pins are used, which cannot be applied Without considerable inconvenience. Again, when attached by mea-ns of common pins, the ends D and bows E, or one of each at least, are so confined as to have'a sti' appearance. All of the above objections are entirely obviated by my'invention, which greatly facilitates the fastening and arranging o' bows and rosettes, either upon a ladys collar, dress, or head. The article can also be used to advantage by gentlemen in connection with their cravate. The pins :t and e may -be so arranged as to stand et any desired angle with each other, in which case the har or frame A would be in the form of a cross, so as to properly support the pins and the shield g and hook c. I prefer, however, to make the pin as shown in the drawings.

Having described my improvement, what Iclaim as of my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent as an improved article ofmauufaoture, is
