HOLDER FOR FL'Y PAPER.
(Appli ation flleQ Sept. 11, 1900.)
UNITED TATES 'ATENT OFFICE.
FRANK W. CHERRY AND HENRY F. RADKE, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
HOLDER FO-R FLY-PAPER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 667,293, dated February 5, 1901.
Application filed September 11, 1900. $eria1No. 29,665. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, FRANK W. CHERRY and HENRY F. RADKE, citizens of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco, in the State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Fly-Paper; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
The objects of our invention are to provide a holder to which the adhesive or sticky fly paper may be removably secured, the holder being so constructed that it may be folded to form an open top and bottom fly-trap, to provide a holder which may be readily disconnected in order that an old or used sheet of adhesive paper may be removed and a fresh one inserted, and to provide a holder which will present a neat and attractive appearance when united to form a trap.
In order to comprehend the invention, reference should be had to the accompanying sheet of drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a perspective view of the holder folded and united to form the body or shell of a fly-trap. Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof, showing a sheet of adhesive paper secured to the inner wall thereof; and Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the holder partially rolled, the sheet of adhesive paper being removed therefrom.
The letter A is used to indicate the holder, which consists of a blank constructed of any suitable. material. Preferably the holderblank is cut so as to form when folded or rolled a cylindrical open top and bottom casing or shell. One side edge of the holderblank has secured thereto the hooks A, which pass through openings a in the opposite side edge of the holder-blank. By means of these side edge books the edges of the holder-blank are united or held locked. When the holder is thus united, an outer casing or shell for the trap is formed. It will be understood that the holder-blank may be so cut as to form any suitably-shaped shell or casing. Likewise any suitable form of locking means may be employed for uniting" the side. edges of the holder.
and projecting from the said holder.
To the inner face or wall of the holder is secured a sheet or layer B of adhesive paper, which sheet or layer is removably attached to the holder by means of the pins 1), secured to The layer or sheet B is attached to the holder prior to the same being folded or rolled to form the shell or casing, Fig. 2 of the drawings. When the shell or casing is formed, the layer or sheet B serves as an inner adhesive wall therefor.
The upper edge of the holder is crimped, so as to provide an inwardly-inclined collar or flange B to the holder when the casing or shell is formed.
Having thus described the invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure pro tection in by Letters Patent, is
1. In a holder for adhesive fly-paper which is designed to be rolled or folded to form a shell or casing of a fiy-trap, the combination with the holder-blank, of means by which its side edges are detachably connected, and of means for removably securing a sheet or layer of adhesive paper to the inner wall thereof.
2. A holder for fly-paper, the same consisting of a suitably-shaped blank designed to be rolled or folded so as to form a shell or casing of a fly-trap, the same being provided with means for permitting of a sheet or layer. of fiy-paper being removably secured to the inner face thereof.
3. A holder for fly-paper, the same consisting of a suitably-shaped blank designed to be rolled or folded so as to form a shell'or casing of a fly-trap, the upper edge of said blank being crimped or shaped to form an inwardlyprojecting inclined collar or flange when the blank has been rolled or folded into a shell or casing, said blank being provided with means by which a sheet of fly-paper may be removably secured to the inner face thereof.
In witnesswhereof we have hereunto set our hands.
FRANK W. CHERRY. HENRY F. RADKE.
