Be it known that I, J. A. ALTI'IOUSE, of New Harmony, Posey county, Indiana, have invented a. new and useful Improvement in Scissors; and I do hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to nia-ke and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying` drawing forming part of this specification.
The drawing represents a pair of scissors with my improved button-hole cutter attached.
The design of this invention is to combine a button-hole cutter with an ordinary pair of scissors for the sake of convenience and economy.
A represents an ordinary pair of scissors, to which is attached a. button-hole cutter, B, by the same rivet a. The button-holc cutter B has a finger-loop, b, at one end, so placed on one side of the hand-le of the scissors as to receive the fore-fingerat the same time, (the scissors are held in the usual way for cutting with,) and at the other` end is the cutter-blade c, the edge of which works upon the surface of a soft metal block, e, that is let into the hack of one of the scissors-blades to cut the hole for a. button in any fabric placed under it, or instead ot' :t piece of soft metal for receiving the sharp edge of the cutter-blade c, the edge may work in a. s`lot in the back of the blade of the scissors or on the edge lkethe scissors-blades.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A button-hole cutter, L, attached to a pair of scissors by the same rivet a, when constructed and operating as herein shown and described.
