Be it known that I, GEORGE WHITTLE, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and staple, or in any other convenient manner. The object of this invention is to provide a cheap and simple screen whereby coal may be separated from the 4ashes and dust contained therein in a neat and expeditious manner, and the invention consistsin constructing a cylinder-screen, and revolving the saine in a. tight box, and in constructing the box in a peculiar manner, so that the parts thereof are rendered otherwise useful, as will be hereinafter described. 4

A represents the screen-box, which is formed in two parts, separated at the. middle, and hinged together by hook-hinges, which'allow the parts to be separated. Where the two parts of the box come in contact the edges arebevellcd, as seen at a, so that the parts are prevented from sliding 'when' in use. B is the cylinder-screen. It is formed 0f heads, with suitable stays uniting thein, and covered with wire cloth or wire screen of suitablesizcd apertures for the passage of the ashes, etc. A section of this cylinder is detachable to allow access to the intcriorfas seen in the cross-section. This portion is marked C. This section may be secured in its place in any `suitable manner.
