GORN-POPPERi TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, CHARLES H. S. SCHULTZ, of Cincinnati, Hamilton county, 0hio, have invented a new and useful Corn-Popper; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the nature, construction, and operation thereof, reference being bad to theaccompanying drawings, making part of this specification.

My inventionrelates to the class of devices for roasting pop-corn, chestnuts, 850., by holding and] agitating the same over an openfire.

Figure 1 represents the under side of a popper embodying my invention.

Figure 2 shows the encircling wire and the handle detached.

A is the wire body or basket; B are strips of tin, folded andriveted firmly over the margin thereof, and ail'ording attachment by hinge C of. the lid D, also of wire, and having a similar marginal stiffening, E. 'The basket is both supported and efl'ectually stifiened by a wire frame, F, which encircles the body a little below the margin thereof, and lashed fast thereto by fine vire,f, and terminates in two hooked shanksf which enter corresponding gains 9 g and perforations g, on opposite sides of ,the wooden handle G. A ring or ferrule, H, passes tightly over the shanksff", as seen in fig. 1, and thus connects the frame F firmly to the handle Gr,v By the withdrawal of the ring, as seen in fig. 2, the frame and basket can be released from the handle for the renewal of either.- It will be seen that the double shankf' serves to materially stifl'en the entire popper, making it secure against the twisting strain of the rapid semi-rotary movement employed in the operations of popping corn and of roasting nuts; and also that the shanks are not liable to work loose in the handle, and should the latter burn out it can be replaced by a new one in a few seconds. that the baskets, the frames, and the handles of a large number of poppers can be packed s compact and convenient form for storage or transportation.

I claim herein as new and of my invention- 7 The encircling frame F, whose hooked shanks ff are secured to a perforated and grooved handle, Gg g g", by means of the ring or ferrule H, in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
