JULlUS BEVINS, OF UNADILLA F0 RKS, NEW YORK.
Letters Patent N6. 70,394, dated November 5, 1867. v
IMPROVEMENT IN DEVICE FOR HOLDING SAP-BUGKET S.
date gtljtblllt ttfttttlt tn in ttest fitters: fitted nut mating part at flgt tame.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it knownjhat Ll JULIUS BEVINS, of Unadilla Forks, in the county of Otsego, and State ol' New York,
have invented a new and improved Bracket or Device for HoldingSap-Buckets to Sugar-Trees; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon. V
The nature'of'my invention consists in providing peculiarly-shaped bracket, which is fastened to the sugartree, and so arranged that it will hold or support thesap-oucket in an upright position.
To enable others skilled in theart to make anal use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation, reference being had to the drawings, iarwhich the saine letters indicate similar parts in each of the figures.
Figure 1 isa side View of the device, and
Figure 2 is a front view ofthe parts of the samewith the sap-bucket in its proper position.
Inthe accompanying drawings, A is the main bar of the bracket, which may be made of wood, iron, or anyother suitable material; It has a hole near its upper part, through which the nail G is driven, which fastens or secures it to the sugar-tree. The bracket is designed to bear against thc,tre e at its upper part, while the lower part extends outward sufficiently to receive the bottom or chime ot' the bucket or sap-pail, and to hold it, as shown in fig. 1, in its upright position; The bracket A, fig. 2, is also provided-with a hook, B, which serves to hold the top or highest end of the stave of the pail E; also, a curved hook, C, at its lowest part, which is fitted to receive the bottom of the pail E. The curved-hook C-may be firmly or removably set on the bar A, and may be made of various shapes to hold the bottom of sap-buckets and pails of the various forms now in use. The
bracket, when it is set on .the sugar-tree at the commencement of the boiling season, is not required to be, removed until the close of saidtime, but the sap-bucket, by being raised up behind the hook B, will be released from the curved hook O, and be thus disengaged or loosened from the same. I
Having thus fully described my invention, I will now state what Idesire to secure by Letters Patent, to wit: I claim the bar A, the hook B, and the curved hook C,when they are arranged in the manner specified.
