Description

"A STERILIZATION CONTAINER FOR INSTRUMENTS AND TISSUES TO BE STERILIZED IN AN AUTOCLAVE"
CBM S.r.l.
The present invention concerns a sterilization container for instruments and tissues to be sterilized in an auto¬ clave, with a following transport and stocking possibility comprising a cover and a lower part provided with grooves with or without tabs for the passage of the steam or of an other sterilizing fluid, placed on the vertical lateral walls, internally closed by a filtering system parallel to the vertical lateral walls, that may be completely disas¬ sembled, consisting of a filter, a gasket device and fra- nies .
It is already well known that in the medical pratice often ly it is necessary to have sterilized instruments and tis¬ sues available for preventing infections.
The best known and most used sterilization system in ho¬ spitals is the one in a steam autoclave.
The sterilization containers are used for performing the loading of the autoclave and for maintaining the sterility of the instruments contained therein even after the steri¬ lization treatment, before being used. During the sterili¬ zation process in a steam autoclave the air is previously
• • • / • • • sucked and successively a flow of dry, saturated, high te perature steam by means of a contemporary insufflation and aspiration. The outlet of the air from the containers plac ed inside the autoclave and the inlet of the steam flow oc cur throug openings, usually provided on the cover or on the bottom of said containers, provided with filters or valves that, furthermore, prevent the inlet of germs from' the outside after the sterilization treatment.
Sterilization containers comprising filters placed inside the container are known, fixed behind openings provided o the cover or on the bottom, protected or not by an exter¬ nal covering that prevents mechanical damages to the fil¬ ter.
European patent no. 0.080.203, e.g., concerns a container comprising an external cover without openings that contai also laterally an intermediate cover provided with openin provided with valves or filters. Thus, an anular passing groove is obtained between the edge of the external and t intermediate cover of the container, forming a labyrinth parcours for the steam that from outside must reach the o penings for the inlet to the container. Thus, an accident damaging of the filter, placed in the intermediate cover, is prevented, the uniform inlet of the steam inside the container is favoured, the sterile stocking of the conten is assured and the piling of a plurality of containers is
« • • / • • • possible. Said double covering however causes the lower container to become heavier and furthermore, the holes pr vided in the intermediate cover realize a steam flow per¬ pendicular to said covering, and consequently to the hori zontal planes represented by the layers of the tissues folded many times for being introduced inside the contai¬ ner, reducinv the efficiency of said flow, and finally the sealing gaskets are not easy to control and to replace.
The aim of the present invention is the one of avoiding th realization of a double cover for closing the sterilizatio container; of creating a more uniform and efficient steam flow inside said container; and of allowing the complete access to all parts forming the filtering system, compris- ing the gasket device with double sealing.
The aim set forth is reached by means of the object accord ing to the present invention as claimed in claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the openings for the passing of the steam flow are placed on. the vertical lateral walls and that the filtering system may be completely disassembled.
The advantages obtained by means of the present invention mainly consist on that the closing cover of the steriliza- tion container is lighter, perfectly plane, allowing to pi le up a plurality of containers; in that the opening sy¬ stem for the passage of the steam, consisting of grooves provided or not with tabs performed on the vertical latera walls, makes the proportionality between the filtering sur face and the loading possible, with equal dimension of the cover, it prevents the inlet of condensation from out- side the container, furthermore protects the filter from said condensation and from the possibility of piercing or accidental contamination caused by casual contacts with pointed objects, or with saliva drops coming from sneezing or coughing by the medical personnel, creates a horizontal steam flow parallel to the cover and to the bottom of the container that penetrates much quicker inside the folded tissue layer forming the porous loads. Finally, due to the fact that the filtering system is realized so that it may be completely disassembled, the control, the cleaning or the replacement of the filter, of the gasket device and of the fixing device forming the same, are favoured.
The object according to the present invention will be de¬ scribed more in detail hereinbelow according to the enclos ed drawings, in which the figures show:
Figure 1 shows a partial exploded axonometric view of a sterilization container with cover, openings fo the passageof the steam and a filtering system in a partial section.
Figure 2 shows a longitudinal section of a sterilization container in which the filtering system is show in a partial section.
Figure 3 shows, in a square section of the filtering sy¬ stem, said sterilization container.
Figure 4 shows in enlarged scale and in partial section the part of the container that in figure 3 is shown inside circle A.
Figure 5 shows a front view of the back part of the most esternal frame of the filtering system contain¬ ing the blocking system.
Relating now to the details of the figures, the steriliza tion container consists of:
- a closing cover 1;
- a lower part 2;
- a plurality of openings 3, provided or not with tabs 4 placed on the vertical lateral walls of said container;
- a filtering system parallel to the vertical lateral wal comprising a gasket device 5 with double sealing, a fir frame 6, a filter 7 and a second frame 8.
According to the present invention, the cover 1 is plane and does not show any opening or hole, having the sole function of closing sealingly the sterilization container
• « • / • • • by means of locks 9 of known kind that cause the adhesion of the gasket 10 on edge 11 of the lower part 2 of the co tainer. The lower part 2 of the container is provided wit openings 3, provided or not with tabs 4 placed on the ver tical lateral walls. The air filtering system, also place on the vertical lateral walls, comprises a gasket device with double sealing that prevents the air from passing la terally between the wall of the container and the first frame 6, and between the first frame 6 and the filter 7, thus forcing all the air to pass through filter 7 that ma be for one or for multiple use. Said double sealing gaske device is pushed againts the container's wall by a first frame 6, and againts the filter 7 and the first frame 6 the second frame 8.
The first frame 6 is kept in its position by the introduc tion of the lower edge provided with semi-circular caviti 12 in pins 13 and by means of rotable ovals 14 that get i serted into eyelets 15 and with a 902 rotation prevent th outlet of said pins 13 from frame 6.
Said filtering system comprises furthermore a second fram 8 that is kept in position by the introduction of the low edge provided with semi-circular cavities 16 in pins 13 b means of a double lock closing system provided in the upp edge of the frame 8, each closing consisting of a rod 17 provided slightly projecting from the side of frame 8, ho rizontally sliding inside the upper edge of frame 8 so t its own hole 18 may get overlapped with hole 19 performe on the backof frame 8, and so that the inlet of nail 20 allowed in the upper edge of frame 8, engaging the same the horizontal sliding caused by the inner spring 21 and the consequent off-set of the two holes 18 and 19. Thus filtering system may be completely disassembled by means the pressure of the ends of the sliding rods 17 projecti from the upper edge of frame 8 and the 90S rotation of t rotable ovals 14 that fix the frame 6.
