  • THIS INVENTION relates to trolleys or carts which may be used to transfer a load from one place to another.
  • the invention relates to hand trolleys which are used for manually transferring a load from one place to another and also from one height to another.
  • Hand trolleys are generally satisfactory for the manual transfer of a load from one place to another where the load is taken from a position at or near ground level to another position at or near ground level.
  • hand trolleys are generally unsatisfactory where it is necessary to subsequently lift the load from the trolley onto a platform or the like or to a second position of any type which is at a higher level than the level at which the load is carried on the trolley.
  • the present invention provides a hand trolley which is capable of use in a first normal mode and a second raised mode, said trolley comprising a main frame being generally elongate so as to have a top end and a bottom end and having load stabilising means and ground engaging means located at or towards the bottom end thereof; a levering frame being generally elongate and having at least one handle at one end thereof; and a load carrying frame, at least a portion of which underlies a load in both the first and second modes; wherein the levering frame is pivotally connected at the other end thereof to the load carrying frame, and the levering frame is also pivotally connected intermediate the ends thereof to the main frame at a location intermediate the top and bottom ends thereof to define a major pivotal axis, such that when the main frame is generally upright lowering of the one end of the levering frame pivots the levering frame about the major pivotal axis to raise the load carrying frame.
