Abstract

Cellule d'affichage à cristaux liquides possédant une couche de compensation qui présente en coupe une indicatrice ou un schéma d'indice de réfraction à symétrie brisée (non rotatoire). Afin d'obtenir une dépendance à petit angle, la biréfringence associée à la couche de compensation est complémentaire de celle associée à une tension donnée traversant la cellule à cristaux liquides, de manière qu'à l'état activé, l'axe optique de la couche de compensation coïncide sensiblement avec l'orientation des directeurs. On peut fabriquer la couche de compensation de différentes façons en utilisant des feuilles cholestériques ou des feuilles à base de cristaux liquides discoïdes.
