Abstract

L'invention concerne un joint (10) pour brides d'étanchéité (80), constitué d'une pluralité de spirales de graphite (75) intercalées expansées, comprimées ensemble et définissant une ouverture annulaire (12). Les côtés opposés (14) du joint (10) définissent des surface d'étanchéité respectives d'une première hauteur (20) et d'une première densité, le bord périphérique (28) de l'ouverture annulaire (12) étant pourvu d'une bordure (26) en forme de bourrelet et s'étendant vers l'extérieur, sur les deux côtés opposés du joint, pour former des saillies (30) d'une seconde hauteur, supérieure à la première, d'une seconde densité, inférieure à la première, et d'une première porosité. Ladite bordure (26) est comprimée entre des surfaces de brides (80) parallèles, définissant ainsi une face fermée sur la périphérie intérieure du joint, laquelle présente une troisième densité, supérieure à la seconde, et une seconde porosité, inférieure à la première. Ainsi aucune fuite ne peut se faire à travers le joint (10) lorsqu'il équipe une bride. L'invention concerne également un procédé d'étanchéification d'un assemblage par bride.
