Abstract

Die Erfindung betrifft isolierte Polynukleotide und die durch diese kodierten Proteine, sowie deren Verwendung zur Bekämpfung von Blatthornkäfern (Scarabaeidae). Außerdem betrifft die Erfindung ein Verfahren zur Herstellung dieser Proteine. Die Polynukleotide weisen die im Sequenzprotokoll SEQ ID NO:1 dargestellte Nukleotidsequenz ganz oder teilweise oder eine damit verwandte, durch Substitution, Deletion, Insertion und/oder Inversion davon abgeleitete Nukleotidsequenz oder eine ganz oder teilweise damit hybridisierende Nukleotidsequenz auf. Sie kodieren Proteine, die mit den für Bacillus popilliae charakteristischen Kristallproteinen identisch oder zumindest verwandt sind, und die zur Hemmung der Fraßtätigkeit und/oder der Abtötung von adulten und/oder larvalen Scarabaeiden, insbesondere Melolontha-Arten und mit diesen nah verwandte Arten, geeignet sind.
