Abstract

This invention relates to a roller arrangement for feeding a material roll in an industrial machine forwards, preferably a roll in a cellulose or paper industry machine, the roller arrangement having such a design that it does not only feed the roll forwards but can also control the same laterally. According to the invention, the roller arrangement is characterized by the combination of the following features: a transverse roller (1), which is driven, is intended to be in contact with the material roll on its underside for feeding the same forwards, the roller having a width which is at least as great as the width of the roll; the roller (1) is intended to cooperate with contact means (3), which are arranged on the topside of the roll and are borne by a horizontal girder (4), which is arranged over and essentially parallel with the roller (1), the contact means having the purpose to force the roll against the roller; guide means (14-16) are suspended in the girder (4) and are intended to be in contact with the roll (2), the guide means (14-16) being arranged in that way that they can lift the girder (4) and by that the contact means (3) in order thereafter to be able to control the roll laterally.

Description

ROLLER ARRANGEMENT This invention relates to a roller arrangement for feeding a material roll in an industrial machine forwards, preferably a roll in a cellulose or paper industry machine, the roller arrangement having such a design that it does not only feed the roll forwards but can also control the same laterally. The known technique in this field comprises partly a feed roller for feeding paper pulp rolls forwards, partly a separate control device which is positioned prior to the feed roller, seen in the moving direction of the pulp roll. This known technique has the consequence that the arrangement feed roller/control device becomes bulky as well as expensive. Therefore, there has been a need of another technique in the field, making a more compact and inexpensive arrangement possible.
This invention intends to meet this need and to provide a roller arrangement, which not only is intended to feed the material roll forwards but also to control the same laterally. This has been made possible by the roller arrangement according to the invention having the features mentioned in the claims. A preferred embodiment of the invention shall be described more closely with reference to the accompanying drawings, where Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of the new roller arrangement, which comprises a number of guide wheels, borne by a transverse girder, and Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the girder and the guide wheels cooperating with this one. Referring to Fig. 1 is shown there the new roller arrangement, which comprises a tranverse roller 1 , which is driven and intended to feed a material roll 2, forwards for instance a pulp roll, which is applied on top of the roller. The roller 1 preferably has such a length that the latter exceeds the width of the pulp roll 2.
In order to create a better contact between the pulp roll 2, fed forwards, and the driving roller 1 , contact means in the form of a great number of contact wheels 3 are arranged on the top side of the pulp roll. These are all borne by a horizontal girder 4 or the like, which extends over the width of the pulp roll and is arranged essentially straightly over and parallel with the roller 1. In this connection the contact wheels 3 are arranged in four different sections 5-8, with two sections on each side of the mid portion of the girder 4, which portion according to this embodiment forms a section 9 of its own, the width of which essentially corresponds to the width of the remaining sections. All wheels 3 of the two sections 5, 6; 7, 8 on each side of the mid portion of the girder 4 are preferably rotatably journalled on one and the same axle 10; 11. Each axle 10; 11 is borne by three vertical rods 12a, b, c; 13a, b, c, which at their upper portions are fastened to the horizontal girder 4. Of course it would be possible to exchange the contact means in the form of contact wheels 3 to contact means in the form of roller means with such a width that each roller means could be spaced within the section in question.
The middle section 9 also comprises wheel means 14-16, which according to this embodiment are three in number. Of course, the number of wheel means can be different and can vary from being two or more. Each one of these wheel means 14-16 is rotatably journalled on a (not shown) horizontal axle and is intended to function as guide means for the pulp roll, which in certain cases shall be laterally controlled.
For this purpose there is a guide cylinder 17 comprising a piston 18, which is movable forwards and backwards in a hydraulic, pneumatic or electric way in a direction which is essentially parallel with the longitudinal direction of the horizontal girder 4. The outer end of the piston means 18 is connected with a frame portion 19, which is fastened to the first guide wheel means 14 and has a part 20, projecting out a portion from the wheel means 14. The frame portion 19 comprises an upper part 21, projecting up above the wheel means 14.
The upper part 21 is fastened to a lower portion of a vertical shaft 22a, the upper part of which is tumably fastened to the horizontal, transverse girder 4. In the same way each of the two remaining guide wheel means 15, 16 cooperates with a frame portion 23, 24, the projecting parts 25, 26 of which are connected with the outer part 20 of the first frame portion
19.
Due to the influence of the piston cylinder 17, 18 is it accordingly possible to turn the three guide wheel means 14-16 to and fro as is indicated with the three arrows 27a, b, c.
As has been mentioned previously there are a great number of contact means in the form of contact wheels 3, which are in contact with the pulp roll 2 for forcing this one against the driving roller 1.
That means that as long as these contact wheels 3 are in contact with the pulp roll 2 and by that with the driving roller 1, the pulp roll will not move laterally when rriing the guide means 14-16, but the pulp roll will first respond to the movement from the guide wheels, when the contact wheels by lifting loose the contact with the pulp roll. In Fig. 2, which shows a longitudinal section through the horizontal girder 4 and the guide wheels 14-16, is shown how the new invention is designed for solving the mentioned problem.
Each of the guide wheels 14-16, as has been mentioned previously, is rotatably arranged in a frame portion 19, 23, 24. This frame portion has an upper part 21, which is fastened to the lower part 25 of a shaft 22a, which is rotatably journalled in the frame girder 4.
A sleeve 26 or the like is fastened to and surrounds the lower part 25 of the shaft 22a. In this connection a diagonal-like section 27 is drawn through the sleeve 26 and the lower part of the shaft 22a, so that the guide wheel 14 with the lower part 25 of the shaft 22a can be turned in relation to the upper part 28 of the shaft 22a. Due to the oblique section 27, the contact surfaces at the section become oblique, and this means that the distance A between the horizontal girder 4 and the contact surface of the guide wheel 14 with the pulp roll will be changed when rning the guide wheel. This change of the distance A is in this case accordingly made in a mechanical way. Of course, the distance A could instead be changed in a hydraulic or pneumatic way.
Thus, if there is a desire to get the contact wheels 3 to lift from the pulp roll, the guide wheels 14-16 are turned in a suitable way by means of the piston cylinder 17, 18, whereby the distance A increases. When continuing to turn the guide wheels 14-16, the pulp roll can accordingly simply be laterally moved. Of course, the sleeve/shaft construction 22a, 26 is arranged in that way at the section
27 that the parts at each side of the section is held together in a suitable way.
In the text has been mentioned material roll. This phrase not only comprises pulp and paper roll but also textile and other rolls.
The invention is of course not limited to the shown and described embodiment but can be modified within the scope of the following claims.

Claims

Claims
1. A roller arrangement for feeding a material roll in an industrial machine forwards, preferably a roll in a cellulose or paper industry machine, the roller arrangement having such a design that it does not only feed the roll forwards but can also control the same laterally, c h a r a c t e r i z e d by the combination of the following features:
- A transverse roller (1), which is driven, is intended to be in contact with the material roll on its underside for feeding the same forwards, the roller having a width which is at least as great as the width of the roll;
- The roller (1) is intended to cooperate with contact means (3), which are arranged on the topside of the roll and are borne by a horizontal girder (4), which is arranged over and essentially parallel with the roller (1), the contact means having the purpose to force the roll against the roller;
- Guide means (14-16) are suspended in the girder (4) and are intended to be in contact with the roll (2), the guide means (14-16) being arranged in that way that they can lift the girder (4) and by that the contact means (3) in order thereafter to be able to control the roll laterally.

A roller arrangement according to claim 1, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the guide means (14-16) are arranged at a middle portion (9) of the girder (4), the contact means (3) being arranged on each side of the guide means, and that the guide means (14-16) comprise a plurality of wheel means, arranged in parallel, each one of which being rotatably arranged in a frame portion (19, 23, 24), which has a front part (20), which is partly connected with the front part of an adjacent frame portion, partly connected with the piston (18) of a guide piston cylinder (17), which piston is movable to and fro in a direction which is essentially parallel with the movement direction of the horizontal girder (4).

A roller arrangement according to claim 2, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the frame portion (19, 23, 24) comprises an upper part (21), projecting up above the wheel means (14, 15, 16), and that this upper part (21) is fastened to a lower portion (25) of an essentially vertical shaft (22a), the upper part of which is turnably fastened to the horizontal, transverse girder (4).

A roller arrangement according to claim 3, c h a r a c t e r i z e d in that the lower part (25) of the shaft (22a) is surrounded by a sleeve (26) or the like, a diagonal-like section (27) being drawn through the sleeve (26) and the lower part (25) of the shaft (22a), so that the guide wheel (14-16) with the lower part (25) of the shaft (22a) can be turned in relation to the upper part (28) of the shaft (22a), whereby the distance (A) between the horizontal girder (4) and the contact surface of the guide wheel (14-16) with the material roll (2) will be changed when turning the guide wheel.
5. A roller arrangement according to any one of the previous claims, c h a r a c t e r¬ i z e d in that the contact means (3) comprise a great number of contact wheels, which are arranged in sections (5-8) on each side of the midportion of the girder.
