- This invention relates to a roller arrangement for feeding a material roll in an industrial machine forwards, preferably a roll in a cellulose or paper industry machine, the roller arrangement having such a design that it does not only feed the roll forwards but can also control the same laterally.
- the known technique in this field comprises partly a feed roller for feeding paper pulp rolls forwards, partly a separate control device which is positioned prior to the feed roller, seen in the moving direction of the pulp roll. This known technique has the consequence that the arrangement feed roller/control device becomes bulky as well as expensive. Therefore, there has been a need of another technique in the field, making a more compact and inexpensive arrangement possible.

- contact means in the form of a great number of contact wheels 3 are arranged on the top side of the pulp roll. These are all borne by a horizontal girder 4 or the like, which extends over the width of the pulp roll and is arranged essentially straightly over and parallel with the roller 1.
- the contact wheels 3 are arranged in four different sections 5-8, with two sections on each side of the mid portion of the girder 4, which portion according to this embodiment forms a section 9 of its own, the width of which essentially corresponds to the width of the remaining sections.
- All wheels 3 of the two sections 5, 6; 7, 8 on each side of the mid portion of the girder 4 are preferably rotatably journalled on one and the same axle 10; 11.
- Each axle 10; 11 is borne by three vertical rods 12a, b, c; 13a, b, c, which at their upper portions are fastened to the horizontal girder 4.
- the contact means in the form of contact wheels 3 to contact means in the form of roller means with such a width that each roller means could be spaced within the section in question.
- the middle section 9 also comprises wheel means 14-16, which according to this embodiment are three in number. Of course, the number of wheel means can be different and can vary from being two or more. Each one of these wheel means 14-16 is rotatably journalled on a (not shown) horizontal axle and is intended to function as guide means for the pulp roll, which in certain cases shall be laterally controlled.
- a guide cylinder 17 comprising a piston 18, which is movable forwards and backwards in a hydraulic, pneumatic or electric way in a direction which is essentially parallel with the longitudinal direction of the horizontal girder 4.
- the outer end of the piston means 18 is connected with a frame portion 19, which is fastened to the first guide wheel means 14 and has a part 20, projecting out a portion from the wheel means 14.
- the frame portion 19 comprises an upper part 21, projecting up above the wheel means 14.
- the upper part 21 is fastened to a lower portion of a vertical shaft 22a, the upper part of which is tumably fastened to the horizontal, transverse girder 4.
- each of the two remaining guide wheel means 15, 16 cooperates with a frame portion 23, 24, the projecting parts 25, 26 of which are connected with the outer part 20 of the first frame portion
- Fig. 2 which shows a longitudinal section through the horizontal girder 4 and the guide wheels 14-16, is shown how the new invention is designed for solving the mentioned problem.
- Each of the guide wheels 14-16 is rotatably arranged in a frame portion 19, 23, 24.
