Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a stapler for driving staples into an object, such as a sheaf of papers, said stapler comprising a driving element, which is arranged to eject a substantially U-shaped staple and drive the legs thereof through the object, and a clinching mechanism having two parallel wall elements, which form between themselves a gap for receiving the staple legs driven through the object and each have a guiding surface for guiding the end of each leg into the gap, and two anvil elements, which are arranged in the gap and which are each pivotable about an axis essen ⁇ tially perpendicular to the wall elements, the anvil elements being pivotable between a starting position, m which they are arranged such that the free ends of the staple legs, when driving the staple into the object, will come into abutment against the respective anvil elements, and an end position for bending, when pivoting from the starting position to the end position, the pro ⁇ jecting end portions of the legs driven through the object, against the object and towards each other.
