- the filter units have to be substantially plane to enable a quick mounting on the disc filter, since the filter units are mounted by sliding each filter unit in place so that the frame engages groove shaped holding members. The frame should therefore not be bent in the direction perpendicular to the filter cloth. In addition, sealing problems may arise if the frame is bent in this manner.

- An object of the present invention is to provide a substantially plane filter unit which is durable when exposed to warm and corrosive liquid mixtures. Another object of the invention is to provide a simple and rapid method of fabricating the filter unit.
- a filter unit of the kind initially stated which is characterized in that an attachment strip of a flexible stitchable material extends along the frame and is wrapped around the latter, and that the filter cloth is united to the attachment strip by means of at least one thread seam.
- the filter unit preferably is produced by forming the frame so that it defines a hole in which the filter cloth is arranged. Then, the attachment strip is wrapped around the frame and is stitched on the filter cloth.
- the attachment strip is dimen ⁇ sioned and wrapped around the frame such that two opposite side portions of the attachment strip extend a distance from the frame in the hole, and the filter cloth is united with the side portions of the attachment strip by means of the thread seam.
- the side portions of the attachment strip and the filter cloth may be arranged edge to edge and the thread seam may form a zigzag path, which alternately crosses said edges.
- a rim of the filter cloth is suitably overlapped by the opposite side portions of the attachment strip, the thread seam uniting said rim with the side portions of the attachment strip, which results in a simple production of the filter unit.
- the two opposite side portions of the attachment strip have two edges which may be aligned on the filter cloth. This allows the thread seam to form a zigzag path which alter- nately crosses said two edges.
- the edges of the side portions of the attachment strip can be kept pressed against the filter cloth so that particles can not pene ⁇ trate in between the filter cloth and the attachment strip.
- the opposite side portions of the attachment strip are advantageously stitched to the rim of the filter cloth by stitching a first thread seam along the frame, for instance in a zigzag path which alternately crosses the two edges of the side portions of the attachment strip, whereafter the filter cloth is stretched by stitching a second thread seam along the frame between the first thread seam and the frame.
- non-shrinkable filter cloths for instance made of acid-proof steel, may be stretched.
- the attachment strip may be chosen from heat shrinkable materials, which means that when the attachment strip and the filter cloth have been stitched together the attachment strip can be shrinked by exposing the strip to heat so that the filter cloth is stretched.

- the filter cloth 3 is cut out in accordance with the shape of the frame 1 but is somewhat smaller than the hole 2.
- the frame 1 is made of a metallic material, preferably acid proof steel.
- the filter cloth in this case is made of acid proof steel but may also be made of a shrinkable plastic material, for instance polypropylene.
- FIG 2 there is shown a complete filter unit 4 according to the invention comprising an attachment strip 5 of a heat shrinkable felt material, preferably a polymer, e.g. polypropylene, which is wrapped around the frame 1 and united with the filter cloth 3 by means of two thread seams 6,7, extending spaced apart from each other along the circumference of the filter cloth 3.
- the attachment strip 5 is provided with notches 8 (see Fig 5) in order to fit the corners of the frame 1.
- the opposite short end edges 9, 10 of the attachment strip 5 are stitched together edge to edge by means of a thread seam 11.
- Two opposite side portions 12,13 of the attachment strip 5 extend a distance from the frame 1 in the hole 2 and overlap a rim 14 of the filter cloth 3, the edges 15,16 of the side portions 12,13 being aligned at mutual sides of the filter cloth (see Fig. 3) .
- the farther thread seam 6 as seen from the frame 1 forms a zigzag path which alternately crosses the edges 15,16, while the other thread seam 7 is a straight seam running in parallel with the frame 1.
- the attachment strip 5 may be formed by four separate part strips, which are stitched together with their edges against one another by means of four thread seams 11.
- Figure 4 shows a modification of the filter unit in which the filter cloth 3' has been dimensioned with an exterior size that corresponds to the exterior size of the frame 1. In this case the filter cloth 3' abuts against one side of the frame 1.
- the filter unit 4 according to Fig. 2 is produced in the following manner.
- the frame 1 is placed on a horizontal foundation and the filter cloth 3, which has been cut out in advance, is applied in the hole 2 of the frame 1.
- the filter cloth 3 is temporarily connected to the frame 1 by spot gluing the circumferential edge of the filter cloth 3 to the inner edge of the frame 1.
- the attachment strip 5, the end edges 9,10 of which have been united edge to edge with each other by means of the thread seam 11, is drawn on the frame 1 so that the side portions 12,13 of the attachment strip 5 overlap the rim 14 of the filter cloth 3.
- the zigzag seam 6 is stitched along the entire circumference of the filter cloth 3 and then the straight seam 7 is likewise stitched along the entire circumference of the filter cloth. This results in that the filter cloth 3 is somewhat stretched.
- the attachment strip 5 is shrinked by exposing it to heat, whereby the filter cloth 3 is further stretched.
- the attachment strip 5 needs not be of a shrinkable material if the required stretching of the filter cloth can be achieved by means of the straight seam 7.
- the filter unit according to Fig. 4 is produced in the same manner as the filter unit 4 according to Fig. 2, except that the filter cloth 3' is placed on one side of the frame 1 and is provisionally connected to the latter by spot gluing the filter cloth 3' to said side of the frame 1.
- the frame 1 may of course be designed so that it defines a hole having another shape than the one shown, e.g. a polygon with five or more corners.

Abstract
Unité de filtre (4) destinée à être utilisée dans un filtre à disque rotatif, comportant un cadre (1) délimitant un trou, et un tissu filtrant (3) s'étendant dans le trou et étant relié au cadre. Selon l'invention, une bande de fixation (5) en matériau souple pouvant être cousu s'étend le long du cadre et entoure ce dernier, et le tissu filtrant est uni à la bande de fixation à l'aide d'au moins une couture par fil (6, 7).
