Definitions
- the invention relates to a self-clamping wrench with a rigidly connected to a handle fixed jaw and a pivotally mounted movable jaw and with a leaf spring attached to the handle, which presses the movable jaw into its clamping position.
- Such wrenches which are used depending on the design of their jaw surfaces as wrenches, pipe wrenches or a combination thereof, have the advantages over fixed or adjustable wrenches on the one hand, and over pliers, on the other hand, that the wrench is based on the diameter to be tightened or the wrench size to be tightened automatically sets and that the required clamping force is automatically applied by moving the handle in the clamping direction. Since the clamping force is released again when the handle moves in the opposite direction to the clamping direction, such clamping keys can be used in a ratchet-like manner.
- the object of the invention is therefore to design a toothed self-clamping wrench of the type mentioned, which can be ratcheted in particular in 15 steps, in such a way that it can be released solely by the movement of the handle.
- This object is achieved in that the leaf spring engages on the movable jaw in the open position pivoted back from the clamping position.
- the leaf spring engages in a snap-in manner on an articulated eye formed on the movable clamping jaw, with which the clamping jaw is mounted in the joint between the handle and the fixed clamping jaw.
- the free end of the leaf spring is preferably directed into its clamping position counter to the pivoting direction of the movable clamping jaw, and a locking projection of the movable clamping jaw strikes the free end of the leaf spring.
- the leaf spring can be fastened on the side of the handle facing away from the movable clamping jaw and can run approximately straight and tangential to the movable clamping jaw or to the circumference of the joint eye. With this arrangement, only a short leaf spring is required. Instead, the leaf spring can also be attached to the side of the handle facing the movable clamping jaw.
- the leaf spring is preferably arranged in an extension on the handle side of a longitudinal slot of the handle receiving the joint eye. This protects the leaf spring.
- the wrench can be designed as a collet with toothed jaw surfaces, the fixed jaw preferably having a convexly curved jaw surface in order to allow adaptation to different diameters to be clamped.
- the wrench can also be designed as an open-ended wrench for a hexagon with a predetermined wrench size, the clamping jaws preferably having contact surfaces for the hexagon in pivot positions offset by 15 in each case.
- the movable jaw is extended beyond its mounting on the fixed jaw to an extension with which the leaf spring is engaged.
- extension and the leaf spring are arranged in a longitudinal slot of the handle.
- extension and the leaf spring in engagement with it are not visible from the outside and are not accessible, so that damage or functional impairments due to external influences are largely excluded.
- Fig. 26-28 a tenth embodiment of a wrench
- FIGS. 1-3 in a first embodiment has a handle 1 which is rigidly connected to a fixed jaw 2.
- a movable jaw 5 is pivotally mounted in a longitudinal slot 3 between the handle 1 and the fixed jaw 2 in a joint 4 or trade.
- the clamping surfaces 2a and 5a of the fixed clamping jaw 2 or the movable clamping jaw 5 can be provided with teeth as shown.
- the clamping surface 2a of the fixed clamping jaw 2 is usually convexly curved, while the clamping surface 5a of the movable clamping jaw 5 has two areas standing at an angle of 120, which are thus adapted to the outer contour of a hexagon screw.
- a leaf spring 6 is fastened on the side 1a of the handle 1 facing the movable clamping jaw 5, for example riveted with a rivet 6b.
- the leaf spring 6 is largely arranged in a handle-side extension 3a of the longitudinal slot 3 of the handle 1. This longitudinal slot 3 also receives the hinge eye 7 with which the movable clamping jaw 5 is mounted in the hinge 4.
- a locking projection 8 is formed near the joint 4, on which the leaf spring 6 strikes with its free end 9.
- the free end of the leaf spring 6 is approximately tangential to the back of the movable jaw 5 and is directed against the pivoting direction of the movable jaw 5 in its clamping position. Therefore, the free end 9 of the leaf spring 6 snaps onto the locking projection 8 of the movable clamping jaw 5 as soon as the clamping jaw 5 has been pivoted back into the open position shown in FIG. 1.
- the wrench against the object to be clamped for example a nut, a screw or a Pipe fitting, pressed, whereby the movable clamping jaw 5 is pivoted towards the handle 1 until the leaf spring 6 engages.
- the wrench can be removed in this open position.
- the locking projection 8 is designed as a flat elevation or nook on the back of the movable clamping jaw 5.
- This locking projection forms on its rear side facing away from the movable clamping jaw 5 a stop surface 10 for the leaf spring 6 in order to press the movable clamping jaw 5 into its clamping position, as can be seen particularly clearly from FIG. 3.
- the second exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 4-6 differs from the exemplary embodiment described in that the leaf spring 6 is arranged between the joint eye 7 and the fixed clamping jaw 2 in the longitudinal slot 3.
- the leaf spring 6 is directed in the pivoting direction of the movable jaw 5 into its clamping position and engages with a locking hook 6a formed at the free end of the leaf spring 6 behind the locking projection 8, which in this embodiment is located on the hinge eye 7.
- FIG. 4 shows this detent position with the movable clamping jaw 5 open.
- FIG. 5 shows the movable clamping jaw 5 in a partially closed position after the leaf spring 6 has been released.
- Fig. 6 shows the narrowest clamping position.
- the third exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 7-9 differs from the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1-3 in that the leaf spring 6 is fastened on the side of the handle 1 facing away from the movable clamping jaw 5 and is approximately straight and tangential to the circumference of the articulated eye 7 runs.
- the locking projection 8, on which the free end 9 of the leaf spring 6 engages, is formed on the circumference of the hinge eye 7.
- the fourth embodiment according to FIGS. 10-12 differs from the first embodiment according to FIGS. 1-3 essentially in that the locking projection 8 is designed as a short lever on the back of the movable clamping jaw 5.
- the stop surface 10 extends, on which the free end 9 of the leaf spring 6 engages in order to press the movable clamping jaw 5 into the clamping position, as can be seen particularly clearly from FIG. 12.
- This configuration of the locking projection 8 and the stop surface 10 ensures that the leaf spring 6 also exerts a particularly effective spring force on the movable clamping jaw 5 even at the end of the pivoting operation directed into the clamping position (FIG. 12).
- 13-16 is an embodiment of a self-clamping wrench, a wrench for a hexagon 11, in particular a nut or a Screw head shown. This fork wrench is only intended for a predetermined wrench size of the hexagon 11.
- the fixed clamping jaw 2 'and the movable clamping jaw 5' have contact surfaces 12 for the hexagon 11 in such an arrangement that the contact surfaces 12 on the hexagon 11 are offset from one another by 15 °
- the fork wrench shown can be used in ratcheting steps of 15 ° in a ratcheting manner.
- the movable jaw 5 ' is extended beyond its joint 4 to an extension 13 with which the leaf spring 6 is engaged.
- the leaf spring 6 is in this case, similar to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1-3, fastened to the handle 1, for example by means of a pin or rivet 6b, and projects into the longitudinal slot 3, in which the extension 13 is also located.
- FIG. 13 shows an intermediate position when the wrench ratchets into a second position, offset by 15 °, as shown in FIG. 15.
- the movable clamping jaw 5 ' opens until the free end of the leaf spring 6 in the position shown in FIG. 16 into a latching recess 13a on the extension 13 snaps into place as shown in FIG. 16.
- the open-end wrench can be removed from the hexagon 11.
- a stop surface 13b of the extension 13 comes to rest on an inner surface 2b when the movable clamping jaw 5 'is opened a little more than the position shown in FIG. 16. This determines the largest possible opening position of the wrench. At the same time, this prevents the free end of the leaf spring 6 from emerging from the recess 13a by a further opening movement of the movable clamping jaw 5 '.
- the leaf spring 6 is fastened to the rear of the movable clamping jaw 5 ′ and bears with its free, hook-shaped end on a support surface 14 on the handle 1.
- the support surface 14 forms a boundary of the longitudinal slot 3 and in the example shown extends approximately tangentially to the rear of the movable clamping jaw 5 '.
- the hook-shaped end 6a of the leaf spring 6 can be latched behind a latching edge 15 of the support surface 14 when the movable clamping jaw 5 'is pivoted sufficiently far into its open position.
- the detent edge 15 is formed by an opening in the longitudinal slot 3 on the opposite side of the handle 1.
- the movable jaw 5 is on an upper arm la of the handle
- the extension 13 connected to the movable jaw 5 is here between this upper arm la and the rear portion of the fixed jaw
- the latching recess 13a is located near its rear end, into which the semicircular bent end 9 the leaf spring 6 engages in the open position of the clamping jaw 5 shown in FIG. 20. It can be seen that in this embodiment the leaf spring 6 is arranged entirely in the longitudinal slot 3. This protects the leaf spring 6 from damage.
- the embodiment of the clamping wrench shown in FIGS. 18-20 is for clamping a hexagon of predetermined dimensions, i.e. only intended for a certain width across flats.
- 21 and 22 show a modified embodiment, in which the clamping jaws 2 and 5 each have a concavely curved clamping surface provided with teeth. This wrench is therefore suitable for clamping hexagons of different sizes, as shown in FIG. 21.
- the movable clamping jaw 5 is mounted in the joint 4 on a housing 16 connected to the clamping jaw 2.
- the extension 13 rigidly connected to the movable clamping jaw 5 has a nose 13b.
- the handle 1 is mounted in a joint 17 on the housing 16 and engages with a cam 18 under the nose 13b.
- the cam 18 engages with the nose 13b and presses the extension 13 upward, so that the movable clamping jaw 5 is pivoted counterclockwise into its clamping position.
- the leaf spring 6 is inserted in a bore 19 of the housing 16 at the rear end of the clamping jaw 2 and protrudes into an intermediate space 20 between the two side cheeks of the housing 16.
- FIGS. 26-28 differs from the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1-3 essentially in that the lower clamping jaw 2 is pivotally mounted in a joint 21 at the front end of the handle 1.
- the clamping jaw 8 rests with a rear, smooth surface 22 on a likewise smooth surface 23 of the articulated eye 7 of the movable clamping jaw 5.
- the hinge eye 7 of the movable clamping jaw 5 is mounted with an elongated hole 7a in the hinge 4 in order to enable a limited displacement.
- the leaf spring 6 engages the movable jaw 5 in the manner described in the example of FIGS. 1-3.
- the end 9 of the leaf spring can be approximately semicircularly curved in order to form a rounded outer contour.
- the leaf spring 6 can be provided with a sliding body 24, which may also be rotatably mounted.
