Definitions

  • cordless or mobile telephones ring in meetings, during lectures or in restaurants.
  • Reasons for this may be that the user of the cordless or mobile telephone has either forgotten to switch off the terminal or that he also wants to be reachable in the situations mentioned above.
  • This is usually very uncomfortable for the owner of the cordless or mobile phone, especially if he lets the cordless or mobile phone ring until he has left the room. Nevertheless, it can happen that he loses the call if the caller does not have enough patience to wait.
  • Another disadvantage is that others can overhear the conversation if he decides to answer the call immediately. In any case, there is a disturbance or distraction for everyone present.
  • a long-lasting acoustic call signal may also be undesirable in other telephone terminals, although the user of the terminal generally wishes to be alerted to an existing call with the aid of acoustic system messages.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a telephone terminal with which the disadvantages mentioned can be avoided as far as possible without the advantage of the acoustic signaling of incoming calls being lost. This object is achieved with the help of a telephone terminal with features according to claim 1.
  • This telephone terminal has a device for outputting acoustic system messages, in particular for outputting call signals to the user of the terminal, a device for storing voice signals and an operating element, the actuation of which, in the event of an incoming call, does the following: a) preventing or immediately ending the output acoustic system messages to the user of the terminal, b) accepting the incoming call without transmission of acoustic signals, in particular voice signals, between the caller and user and c) outputting a stored voice signal to the caller, with which the caller is asked to hold the line.
  • the telephone terminal according to the invention thus gives its user the option of being alerted to an incoming call using acoustic system messages and of suppressing these acoustic system messages immediately by actuating an operating element.
  • the incoming call is accepted and a stored voice signal is output to the caller, with which the caller is asked to hold the line. So it cannot happen that the user loses a call because the caller has to wait too long to answer the call.
  • the absence of a transmission of acoustic signals between the caller and the user ensures that eavesdropping on conversations in the room in which the telephone terminal is located is excluded by the caller. Furthermore, because there is no conversation between the caller and the user of the terminal, such a conversation cannot be overheard by people who are in a room with the user of the terminal.
  • the starting point for the implementation of the present invention can be a conventional telephone terminal.
  • This usually has a device for outputting acoustic system messages, in particular for outputting acoustic call signals to the user of the terminal.
  • Devices for storing voice signals which are used in connection with conventional telephone terminals or are even integrated therein are also known. Conventional answering machines are simple examples of this.
  • the invention now provides a control element, the actuation of which receives this call in the event of an incoming call, thereby outputting a voice signal to the caller, which is stored in the device for storing voice signals, and which prompts the caller to hold the line.
  • This control element can be a special additional control element, for example an additional key in the keypad of a telephone terminal, which is provided exclusively for this function. However, it can also be an existing control element, the actuation of which previously had no function in the case of an incoming call. Furthermore, the control element according to the invention can also be implemented by a conventional control element, which in normal operating state has a different function, but to which the function according to the invention, possibly temporarily, is assigned by suitable programming of the terminal.
  • the various alternatives mentioned for implementing the control element according to the invention each have their advantages and disadvantages which are obvious to the person skilled in the art. It is therefore within the discretion of the person skilled in the art which option for realizing the present invention he decides.
  • the control element is connected to the other electronic devices of the telephone terminal by suitable circuit-technical measures which are familiar per se to the person skilled in the art in such a way that the actuation of the control element in the event of an incoming call has the following effects: a) the prevention or immediate termination of the output of acoustic system messages the user of the terminal, b) the acceptance of the incoming call without transmission of acoustic signals, in particular voice signals, between the caller and the user and c) the output of a stored voice signal to the caller, with which the caller is asked to hold the line.
  • the control element is actuated even before an acoustic system message has been issued, for example because the user has already been made aware of the incoming call by an optical system message that was issued earlier, the control element is actuated to prevent the output of any acoustic system messages, in particular any acoustic call signals.
  • the control element is actuated to prevent the output of any acoustic system messages, in particular any acoustic call signals.
  • the output of acoustic system messages is ended by actuating the control element.
  • the incoming call is - in the telecommunications sense - accepted, that is, it comes - from a switching point of view - a connection is established with the caller.
  • the end device is thus brought into the off-hook state.
  • the invention provides that such a transmission does not take place at least initially.
  • a voice signal stored in the terminal is instead output to the caller, with which the caller is asked to hold the line.
  • an output of at least one optical system message is provided, which replaces the prevented or ended acoustic system message.
  • the output of this optical system message is triggered by actuating the control element according to the invention.
  • Another particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides for an implementation of the control element according to the invention in a manner which has the consequence that a pressing the control element again switches on the transmission of acoustic signals between the caller and the user. After a total of two actuations of this control element, the connection with the caller is actually fully established, after the initial actuation initially only resulted in a purely mediation-related call acceptance - ie the transition of the terminal to the off-hook state.
