Definitions

  • a bowl-shaped bin of turnable or openable type preferably for reception of foodstuff articles.
  • the present invention concerns a container element for machines such as sorting and batching machines, in which a number of such container elements are used for the temporary storage of articles, and from which they shall be emptied later.
  • the element can be a weighing bin or a bin for successive receipt of articles for the building up of article portions for collective emptying from the individual containers .
  • the invention is especially relevant for the foodstuffs industry, where it is current practice to effect a weighing of the individual items or item portions, or to collect already weighed items in a successive manner to form portions for collective delivery of these from the respective containers or bins.
  • This delivery can be effected by turning the individual containers upside-down or by opening the bottoms of the containers, which in practice demands good stability for the containers, which should thus be configured in sheet metal or possibly as moulded units of suitably heavy plastic material.
  • metal parts which are suitable for the supportive and replaceable receipt of a wall-forming lining with a desired slide-promoting surface structure, whereby in the relevant situations it is not the bins as a whole which have to be replaced, but only the relevant wall parts.
  • These can well consist of a less rigid material, preferably merely of a semi-stiff plastic foil which can be provided with the desired surface structure by simple and inexpensive vacuum forming, and which in addition is configured with suitable engagement parts for releasable coupling together with the rigid, supporting framework structure.
  • the latter will be considerably cheaper to produce than a container or bin with uninterrupted side surfaces, and the wall parts introduced herein will be even cheaper, because the desired surface configurations can be extremely cheap to produce.
  • a changeover between different productions can thus be effected both easily and quickly in an inexpensive manner and, moreover, the basic configuration of the containers themselves is made cheaper. This is of considerable financial significance, the reason being that the relevant machines are often equipped with a large number of the aforementioned containers.

  • Fig. 2 is a corresponding view of the lining part for same
  • Fig. 3 is sectional view of the bin in its open state
  • Fig. 4 is an end view of a modified bin.
  • Each end of the bin shown in fig. 1 comprises two trapezoidal end plates 2 arranged opposite each other, and which are held together by being pivotably secured to a surrounding frame 6 at the points 4. Moreover, these end plates are mutually connected by means of a knee- joint 8 with a centre-pin 10 which, when in its lowered position, holds the knee-joint extended almost straight, whereby the end plate positions will determine a bin with closed bottom, while a lifting. of the pin 10 will cause the joint 8 to break upwards and cause the end plates to swing for the opening of the bottom of the bin, cf . fig. 3.
  • the same end plates are mutually connected only by the longitudi- nal rods 12,14,16, i.e. without fixed side pieces and bottom walls .
  • edge openings are provided in the outer edges of open girder profiles 19 extending lengthwise with the end edges of the plate elements 18 for the stiffening of same in the upwards direction .
  • the wall plate elements 18 can expediently be made merely of semi-stiff plastic, whereby in a simple manner, i.e. by vacuum forming of a plastic foil, they can be provided with a serrated surface profile which will counteract adherence of the items which are delivered to the individual bins. This appears clearly from the drawing.
  • the optimal configurations of the bin walls can vary for different products, but it will be understood that precisely with the invention it is possible to effect such an adaptation of the bin in a simple and inexpensive manner, in that the wall elements 18 can simply be changed with wall elements of other configurations which are also inexpensive to produce, in that they are not required to serve as constructive stabilizing elements between the opposing end plates, regardless of the material from which they are made.
  • fig. 4 is shown an embodiment which is based on the precondition that in certain plants it will be acceptable that the upper, upright side walls 18' of the bin can be fixed plate parts, no matter whether they are smooth or profiled to reduce adherence, but otherwise without requiring product -adapted linings, i.e. when the tendency for the relevant products to adhere to these steep surfaces will generally be low.
  • the lower, inclined bottom wall parts here indicated by the reference number 22, to constitute replacement parts cf. fig. 1-3.
  • the opening of the bin bottom it can also be sufficient to arrange a swinging-down of just these bottom parts, while the upper side walls 18' remain upright. This is also shown in fig. 4, where the bottom wall parts 22 are shown in both the closed and the open position.
  • the invention is not limited to any certain type of profiling or configuration of the slide surfaces.
  • alternative use can be made of a nubbly or vertically-profiled surface, and in extreme cases the surfaces can be completely plane and smooth.
