Abstract
L'invention concerne un animal transgénique non humain qui appartient à l'une des espèces du groupe comprenant les aviens, les bovins, les ovins et les porcins, et qui comporte un transgène entraînant la rupture de la production et/ou de l'activité du facteur-8 de différenciation de croissance (GDF-8) chromosomique intégré aux cellules germinales de l'animal. On décrit aussi des procédés relatifs à l'élaboration de ce type d'animal, et des procédés de traitement pour les animaux, ainsi que pour les êtres humains, consistant en un processus par anticorps ou par antisens sur le facteur GDF-8. Les animaux qui reçoivent ce traitement présentent la caractéristique d'une augmentation de tissu musculaire.
