Abstract

Ce procédé est caractérisé par les étapes consistant à: établir une connexion à une ressource Internet distante (20) à partir d'un terminal Internet (10) relié au téléviseur (12), et charger des données Internet à partir de cette ressource; à partir des données Internet chargées, déterminer la position sur l'écran d'au moins une fenêtre d'affichage (28) et le contenu informatif correspondant (30) de ces données Internet; recevoir sur une entrée du téléviseur le signal (24) d'image de télévision; commander le signal d'entrée du téléviseur de manière à faire apparaître sur l'écran d'affichage une image composite comprenant, dans la région délimitée par ladite fenêtre (28), le contenu informatif (30) des données Internet et, sur le reste de l'écran, l'image de télévision (26).

Description

Procédé pour présenter sur un écran d'affichage d'un téléviseur une image composite combinant une image de télévision et un contenu informatif de données Internet
L'invention concerne la présentation et l'utilisation des informations transmises par le réseau Internet. On connaît des appareils, que l'on appellera dans la suite "terminaux Internet", qui se présentent sous la forme d'un boîtier destiné à être connecté d'une part au réseau téléphonique et d'autre part à un téléviseur. Le terminal Internet est pourvu de moyens de contrôle, par exemple sous la forme d'une télécommande, qui permettent de com- mander l'accès à telle ou telle ressource Internet, la récupération des informations souhaitées et leur affichage sur l'écran du téléviseur auquel est relié le terminal Internet.
Une telle configuration n'est cependant pas limitative, et diverses variantes peuvent être envisagées, notamment une transmission par une voie autre qu'une ligne téléphonique, telle que réseau câblé, radiotéléphonie cellulaire (GSM), radiotéléphonie sur boucle locale, réception de données par satellite, etc.
Le téléviseur est utilisé en tant que périphérique d'affichage des données informatiques produites par le terminal Internet. Le terminal Internet fournit à cet effet soit un signal appliqué directement aux étages vidéo du téléviseur via une prise de péritélévision, soit un signal UHF modulé appliqué à la prise d'antenne du téléviseur.
L'un des buts de la présente invention est de permettre l'affichage sur l'écran du téléviseur d'une image composite combinant une image de télévision proprement dite, transmise au téléviseur par voie hertzienne ou par un réseau câblé, et d'une image de données numériques informatiques produites par le terminal Internet relié à ce téléviseur.
L'intérêt d'un tel procédé réside, d'une part, dans la possibilité d'individualiser l'affichage des données informatiques en fonction du destinataire (ce qui n'est pas le cas de l'image de télévision) et, d'autre part et surtout, de réaliser une interactivité avec le spectateur, la liaison avec le site Internet pouvant être utilisé comme voie de retour pour la transmission d'informations en réponse émises par le spectateur, telles que vote, demande d'informations sur un sujet présenté par l'image de télévision, participation active et directe à un jeu télédiffusé, etc.
À cet effet, le procédé de l'invention est caractérisé par les étapes consistant à : établir une connexion à une ressource Internet distante à partir d'un terminal Internet relié au téléviseur, et charger des don- nées Internet à partir de cette ressource ; à partir des données Internet chargées, déterminer la position sur l'écran d'au moins une fenêtre d'affichage et le contenu informatif correspondant de ces données Internet ; recevoir sur une entrée du téléviseur le signal d'image de télévision ; commander le signal d'entrée du téléviseur de manière à faire apparaître sur l'écran d'affichage une image composite comprenant, dans la région délimitée par ladite fenêtre, le contenu informatif des données Internet et, sur le reste de l'écran, l'image de télévision.
Dans une première forme de mise en oeuvre du procédé de l'invention, l'étape de commande du signal d'entrée du téléviseur comporte un pilotage sélectif de la broche de commutation rapide d'une prise de pé- ritélévision du téléviseur pendant les périodes correspondant au balayage de la fenêtre, et la substitution du signal d'image de télévision par le contenu informatif des données Internet pendant ces périodes. Dans une seconde forme de mise en oeuvre du procédé de l'inven- tion, l'étape de commande du signal d'entrée du téléviseur comporte l'application au téléviseur d'un signal vidéo composite multiplexe incluant le contenu informatif des données Internet pendant les périodes correspondant au balayage de la fenêtre, et le signal d'image de télévision le reste du temps. Selon un certain nombre de caractéristiques subsidiaires avantageuses :
— l'image composite est une superposition d'une page de données Internet plein écran et du signal d'image de télévision, la page de données Internet plein écran comprenant le contenu informatif des données Internet dans la région de l'écran délimitée par la fenêtre, et une plage uniforme de couleur définie comme transparente sur le reste de l'écran ; le signal d'image de télévision est au moins partiellement constitué d'informations de télétexte ; le procédé comprend en outre les étapes suivantes : introduction par l'utilisateur dans le terminal Internet de données en réponse au contenu informatif affiché sur le téléviseur ; et transmission par le terminal Internet de ces données à un site Internet distant.
D'autres caractéristiques de l'invention apparaîtront à la lecture de la description ci-dessous d'un exemple de mise en oeuvre, en référence à la figure annexée qui est une représentation schématique fonction- nelle des différents éléments intervenant dans la mise en oeuvre du procédé de l'invention.

Sur la figure 1 , la référence 10 désigne un terminal Internet d'un type général en lui-même connu, c'est-à-dire se présentant sous la forme d'un boîtier destiné à être relié à un téléviseur 12 pour l'affichage des données retournées par le réseau Internet, ce boîtier comportant, pour l'introduction de commandes de navigation, un récepteur 14 tel qu'un récepteur infrarouge piloté par une télécommande 16 à la dispo- sition de l'utilisateur.
Le terminal Internet 10 peut être pourvu d'un lecteur 18 de carte à microcircuit, par exemple pour lire une carte dans laquelle sont mémorisées les données de connexion au fournisseur d'accès Internet, carte qui est par exemple adressée à l'utilisateur après souscription d'un abonnement à ce fournisseur.
Pour l'accès à un site Internet distant tel que 20, le boîtier comprend un modem relié de manière appropriée au réseau téléphonique commuté 22, avec une liaison bidirectionnelle via les protocoles classiques (TCP/IP) utilisés pour ce type de liaison. Le téléviseur possède une entrée de signal de télévision 24, par exemple un signal hertzien ou de réseau câblé.
Ce signal, désigné TV, va produire l'affichage d'une image de télévision 26 sur l'écran du téléviseur 12.
Le but de l'invention est de réaliser une image composite combi- nant cette image de télévision 26 à des données informatiques incrustées dans une ou plusieurs fenêtre(s) 28 pour l'affichage d'un contenu informatique correspondant 30 provenant de données retournées par le réseau Internet.
Le spectateur va alors disposer, outre le son et l'image du signal TV (qui ne contient pas d'information spécifique), d'un ou plusieurs "pavés" Internet incrustés dans cette image et pouvant évoluer dynamiquement en fonction de commandes envoyées par le site Internet distant.
On notera incidemment que l'image de télévision peut être partiellement, ou même totalement, constituée d'un signal de télétexte, donc pouvant combiner des informations purement analogiques et des données numériques, ces dernières étant transmises par le signal TV pendant les périodes de retour de trame, comme cela est en soi bien connu. Pour réaliser le signal composite, le terminal Internet récupère le signal de synchronisation SYNC du téléviseur, se synchronise sur ce si- gnal, et vient piloter par un signal CTRL la broche de commutation rapide de la prise de péritélévision du téléviseur 12 pendant les périodes correspondantes aux balayage de la (des) fenêtre(s) 28, en remplaçant alors pendant ces périodes l'image de télévision par le contenu informatif INFO des données Internet. En variante, notamment pour les téléviseurs non munis de prise de péritélévision, le terminal Internet peut récupérer le signal UHF de télévision TV et remoduler un signal UHF désigné TVC appliqué sur l'entrée d'antenne du téléviseur, ce signal combinant l'image de télévision 26 et les fenêtres Internet 28, le tout modulé à une fréquence UHF ap- propriée.
On notera que, dans ce procédé, les données retournées par le réseau Internet comprennent non seulement le contenu informatif 30 des fenêtres 28, mais également la position de ces fenêtres sur l'écran de téléviseur. Avantageusement, la position de ces fenêtres est définie en attri- buant aux régions de l'écran délimitées par des fenêtres un contenu informatif de données Internet de la manière habituelle, et en attribuant aux régions extérieures à ces fenêtres une plage uniforme d'une couleur définie comme transparente. Ainsi, la superposition de la plage de données Internet - qui est une plage pleine écran - et du signal d'image de télévision - également plein écran - par simple addition numérique des signaux donnera l'image composite recherchée, sans qu'il soit besoin de réaliser de multiplexage entre l'image de télévision, d'une part, et fenêtre de données Internet, d'autre part. Ce procédé selon l'invention s'applique avantageusement, par exemple, à des émissions télédiffusées de jeux, concours, votes, etc.
Dans ce cas, il est possible d'afficher sur l'écran, dans les fenêtres de données, des données personnalisées en fonction du destinataire (ce qui n'est pas le cas de l'image de télévision, qui est la même pour tous). Mais surtout, il devient possible de prévoir une voie de retour d'informations, en demandant au spectateur, via sa télécommande 16, de répondre à telle ou telle question, de voter, de jouer, etc., par exemple en lui proposant de pointer et de cliquer sur telle ou telle fenêtre apparaissant sur l'écran de son téléviseur en fonction de son choix.

Claims

REVENDICATIONS
1. Un procédé pour présenter sur un écran d'un téléviseur (12) une image composite combinant une image de télévision (26) et au moins une image de données informatiques (30), caractérisé par les étapes consistant à :
— établir une connexion à une ressource Internet distante (20) à partir d'un terminal Internet (10) relié au téléviseur, et charger des données Internet à partir de cette ressource, — à partir des données Internet chargées, déterminer la position sur l'écran d'au moins une fenêtre d'affichage (28) et le contenu informatif correspondant (30) de ces données Internet,
— recevoir sur une entrée du téléviseur le signal (24) d'image de télévision, — commander le signal d'entrée du téléviseur de manière à faire apparaître sur l'écran d'affichage une image composite comprenant, dans la région délimitée par ladite fenêtre (28), le contenu informatif (30) des données Internet et, sur le reste de l'écran, l'image de télévision (26).
2. Le procédé de la revendication 1 , dans lequel l'étape de commande du signal d'entrée du téléviseur comporte un pilotage sélectif (CTRL) de la broche de commutation rapide d'une prise de péritélévision du téléviseur pendant les périodes correspondant au balayage de la fenêtre, et la substitution du signal d'image de télévision (TV) par le contenu informatif des données Internet (INFO) pendant ces périodes.
3. Le procédé de la revendication 1 , dans lequel l'étape de commande du signal d'entrée du téléviseur comporte l'application au téléviseur d'un signal vidéo composite multiplexe (TVC) incluant le contenu informatif des données Internet pendant les périodes correspondant au balayage de la fenêtre, et le signal d'image de télévision le reste du temps.

Le procédé de la revendication 1 , dans lequel l'image composite est une superposition d'une page de données Internet plein écran et du signal d'image de télévision, la page de données Internet plein écran comprenant le contenu informatif des données Internet dans la région de l'écran délimitée par la fenêtre, et une plage uniforme de couleur définie comme transparente sur le reste de l'écran.
5. Le procédé de la revendication 1 , dans lequel le signal d'image de télévision est au moins partiellement constitué d'informations de télétexte.
6. Le procédé de la revendication 1 , comprenant en outre les étapes suivantes :
— introduction par l'utilisateur dans le terminal Internet de données en réponse au contenu informatif affiché sur le téléviseur, et
— transmission par le terminal Internet de ces données à un site In- ternet distant.
