Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte au domaine de la médecine, et concerne des procédés et des dispositifs permettant d'immobiliser le corps humain, ou une partie de celui-ci, dans une position donnée lorsque l'on effectue, par exemple, un traitement par rayonnement de tumeurs malignes. Cette invention permet d'éliminer tout mouvement physiologique au niveau des articulations du patient lorsqu'il est exposé au rayonnement. Cette invention concerne essentiellement un fauteuil permettant d'immobiliser un patient en vue d'une thérapie par rayonnement et en rotation à l'aide d'un faisceau thérapeutique et horizontal de protons. Ce fauteuil comprend un siège (7), un repose-pied (1), des dossiers (2, 3, 4), un repose-tête (5) et des accoudoirs (6), un montant vertical (8) supportant les dossiers (2, 3, 4), une unité d'immobilisation des épaules (10), ainsi qu'un dispositif de tension de la colonne vertébrale (9). Cette invention concerne également un procédé de fixation du patient en position assise dans le fauteuil, lequel consiste à immobiliser et à fixer fermement les articulations importantes ou des groupes d'articulations selon une séquence préalablement définie, à savoir: les articulations des jambes et des pieds, les articulations du genou, les articulations coxo-fémorales, les articulations intervertébrales, la jonction tête/cou, les articulations du poignet, les articulations du coude puis, enfin, les articulations des épaules. L'immobilisation de chacune des articulations se fait en comprimant leurs surfaces et/ou en tendant leurs tissus, ceci en déplaçant de force les parties du corps qui sont proches d'une articulation.
