The present invention concerns a quick connector of insulated electrical cables by perforation of the insulator, of the type comprising at least two elements of dielectric material capable of tightening and closing against each other by clamping together a portion of an insulated electrical cable, presenting , at least one of said elements, next to its face in contact with the insulated cable, a piece of electroconductive material with one or more penetrating protrusions capable of perforating the insulating layer of the cable and reaching the conductive core of said cable to establish electrical contact with the same.
Antecedentes de la InvenciónBackground of the Invention
Various devices for connecting insulated cables based on the principle of perforation of the insulating layer are known in the state of the art, the utility model n being cited. ES-A-210886, and models U-ES-A10350984 and ES-A-10260504, both of the same applicant, in which connectors for the taking of an electrical branch of an insulated conductor by perforation of the insulating layer are described of the same. In all of them the piercing elements are constituted by multiple penetrating nails, the tightening being carried out by means of screws.
In the patent ES-A-2040650 another device for the interconnection of two insulated electric cables is described by perforating the insulating layer thereof, in which an externally threaded rod has two grooves at its two ends at the bottom of which are the perforating elements, said grooves being able to accommodate an insulated cable each, having nut elements capable of threading on the external of said rod by pressing said cables against the perforating elements.
In all these systems, while ensuring a good connection to transmit high currents, there are the disadvantages of damaging the insulation layer of the cable leaving it unfit for reuse, and of requiring tools for its application. On the other hand, in the patent application EP-A-0684662 a connector is described for a flat cable of several wires composed of a base provided with several channels and a cover also provided with channels capable of being faced with those of the base to form housings for several wires of an electric cable, carrying the aforementioned cover, in housings arranged in the channels, a pair of connecting nails capable of perforating, in a self-peeling manner, the insulating layers of the cables to make contact with its conductive cores, also having elastic closing means to keep the base and lid together.
Breve exposición de la InvenciónThe connector described in the previous patent EP-A-0684662, although it does not require tools for its application, it does present the inconvenience of stripping the insulating layer of the cable, incapacitating it for later reuse. In addition, in said connector, both the cover and the contact nail pairs constitute separate parts that must be assembled in the assembly process and then joined with the cables to be connected. Brief exposition of the invention
Therefore, the objective of the present invention is to provide a fast connector of insulated electrical cables by perforation of the insulator, in which the perforation does not significantly damage the insulating layer of the cable, so that it is reusable, enabling to cancel any of the connections made. Another objective of this invention is to provide a quick connector, without loose parts and capable of being applied without tools. A final objective of this invention is to provide a connector of the type referred to (where bare cables are not required) useful for low voltage networks, in fields such as the domestic installation, the automotive industries, machinery in general, appliances, electronics, and in all those applications where low voltage electrical connections or shunts are required, fast, reliable and economical.
In a preferred embodiment of the present connector, it is possible to make one or more outlets from an already installed cable without substantially damaging it.
These objectives are achieved, in accordance with the present invention, by providing a single piece of dielectric material provided, in its central area, with a hinge-like thinning that delimits two elements that can be attached to each other, provided on their sides with elastic closures formed, in the same piece, to keep them pressed against each other. Said elements are provided, on their internal faces, with one or more formative grooves of conduits for corresponding insulated electrical cables. In the mouths of said ducts there are protruding annular ribs towards the interior thereof to throttle the insulating layer of the electric cable in order to establish a mechanical fastening thereof. Embedded inside one of the elements is a piece of electroconductive material provided with protrusions that appear at the bottom of the corresponding mentioned grooves constituting thin elements ending in a tip sharpened, capable of perforating the insulating layer of the cable without significantly damaging it, reaching the conductive core of said cables to establish an electrical connection between them.

Descripción detallada de unos ejemplos de realizaciónFig. 6 is a longitudinal sectional view illustrating a connector according to this invention, which can be permanently attached to the end of a cable, useful for connecting it with another cable reversibly. Detailed description of some embodiments
In figure 1 a first element 1 is shown, which has, on its inner face, a first groove the, passing from one edge to another of said face and at least a second groove Ib, transverse to the first, which runs from 5 a edge of said face until said first groove the. Standing out from the bottom of each of said first the second and second Ib grooves there are respective penetrating protuberances 3a and 3b that protect the ends of a piece 3 of elongated electroconductive material that is embedded in said first element 1. A second element 2 it presents about 0 first 2a and second 2b grooves in correspondence with the respective first la and second Ib grooves of the first element 1 to form, when both elements 1, 2 are attached, conduits of substantially circular profile to house, respectively, an insulated electrical cable through K and one end of an insulated electrical cable L, to take the second one an electrical branch of the first. The first element 1 has on its sides fingernails 4a capable of elastically fitting into openings of pins 4b arranged on the sides of the second element 2. In a position close to the outer edges of each of the grooves la, Ib, 2a , 2b is a protruding semiannular rib 6 inwardly to throttle the insulating layer A of the electric cable K, L in order to establish a mechanical fastening thereof. Said first element 1 and said second element 2, together with their respective closures 4a, 4b and ribs 6 are formed in one piece, with a thinning 5, arranged between both elements 1, 2, as a hinge. 5 For its application an insulated cable K is provided, through, in the groove 2a and one end of an insulated cable L in the groove 2b; Elements 1 and 2 are attached by a rotation with respect to the hinge line 5; both pieces are pressed against each other so that the first protuberance 3 penetrates the insulating layer A of the cable K while the second or protuberance 3b penetrates the insulating layer A of the cable L, reaching both protrusions 3a, 3b the conductive cores B of the respective cables K, L, establishing electrical connection between them through the part 3 embedded in the element 1, as shown in Figs 2 and 3. The pairs of ribs 6 of the elements 1 and 2 throttle, without damaging it, the insulation layer A of the cables K and L establishing mechanical connection with them, while the tabs 4a of the first element 1 are inserted into the holes of the pins 4b of the second element 2 by elastic deformation thereof, closing the connector and maintaining, in cooperation with hinge 5, elements 1 and 2 tightly pressed together. This arrangement ensures a secure closure thanks to the elastic recovery of the pins 4b. However, said closure is easily releasable, and the electrical and mechanical connection between the two cables K and L can be undone, so that these can be reused because the damage caused by the perforation of the protrusions 3a and 3b in the insulating layers A is insignificant.
