  • the present invention relates to a cooling/heating bed employing a Peltier effect capable of cooling and/or heating a surface of the bed.
  • Figs. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are cross sectional views illustrating the construction of a cooling and/or heating bed according to first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth preferred embodiments of the present invention, respectively.
  • Fig. la is a block diagram illustrating a circulating state of a coolant.
  • Figs. 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 are exploded-perspective views illustrating components of the present invention.
  • a metal plate is laid on a housing 10, and a cooling/heating element is installed in the housing.
  • the cooling/heating element is divided into 6 embodiments of the present invention, wherein it is noted that the partially structural modification, the change of material, and variations of the components come within the scope of the claimed invention.
  • a Peltier element is a plate-typed semiconductor invented by a Frenchman, Peltier, in the 19 th century. If a power source of a direct current is applied to the Peltier element, one surface is heated to generate the heat, while the other surface is cooled. If the polarity of the Peltier element is inversed, the heated surface is cooled, while the cooled surface is heated. Accordingly, the heating/cooling device of the present invention employs the Peltier element.
  • a radiator 29 and a water pump 30 are located outdoors, and a heating/cooling device 20 is mounted in the housing 10. If the power source of direct current is applied to the Peltier device 22 through a cable 23, the surface contacted with the metal plate 21 is cooled, so that the body's portion contacted with the metal plate cools down. At that time, because a surface opposed to the metal plate generates a heat, the cooling operation of the Peltier device may be smoothly achieved by removing the generated heat from the surface of the Peltier device. Therefore, the Peltier device has to be cooled.
  • two coolant reservoirs 24 are fixed to a bottom of the Peltier device, and communicate with the radiator 29 and the water pump 30 through tubes 27 and 28 (referring to Fig. la).
  • the operation of the water pump causes the coolant to be circulated in the coolant reservoir to cool the Peltier device.
  • FIG. 2 A second embodiment of the present invention will now be explained with reference to Fig. 2. Comparing to the first embodiment of the present invention, the embodiment employs an air-cooled Peltier device by use of a pan motor, without using the above cooling reservoir. Specifically, a metal plate 21a is cooled by a Peltier device 22a, and the heat generated by the Peltier device is cooled by the operation of a pan motor 25a. The hot air generated thus is discharged through a hole 11 of a housing.
  • Reference numeral 23a indicates an electric cable, and 26a indicates a cooling fin.
  • FIG. 3 A third embodiment of the present invention will now be explained with reference to Fig. 3.
  • the embodiment employs an air-cooled Peltier device by use of an air tank 24a fixed to a bottom of the Peltier device and a blower 40 located outdoors, instead of using the pan motor.
  • a metal plate 21b is cooled by the operation of a Peltier device 22a, and the heat generated by the Peltier device is naturally dispersed by the atmosphere and then is cooled by cold air supplied outwardly from the blower.
  • the air from the blower is supplied into one of air tanks through a tube 41 to cool the Peltier device, and the air is supplied into the other of air tanks through a tube 41a to cool the Peltier device and is discharged outdoors through a tube 42a.
  • Reference numeral 23b indicates an electric cable
  • 26b indicates a cooling fin.
  • a fourth embodiment of the present invention will now be explained with reference to Fig. 4, and corresponds to a modification of the first embodiment.
  • the human's body is contacted not to a metal plate 21c, but to cold air and metal plate.
  • the metal plate 21c is cooled by a Peltier device 22c, and the heat generated from the Peltier device is cooled by a radiator 29c, a water pump 30c, and each tube 27c and 28c.
  • Cooling fins 50c are coupled to an upper surface of the metal plate 21c, and a metal plate 60c with a number of holes 61c is laid on the cooling fin.
  • the cold air from a blower 40b located outwardly is supplied to a space formed between the metal plate 21c and the metal plate 60c through a tube 41b. Therefore, the external air collides with the metal plate and cooling fins cooled by the Peltier device, and is discharged towards the human's body through the holes 61c.
  • a fifth embodiment of the present invention will now be explained with reference to Fig. 5, and corresponds to a modification of the second and fourth embodiments.
  • a metal plate 21d to which cooling fins 50d are coupled is cooled by a Peltier device 22d to which cooling fins 26d are coupled, and the heat generated from the Peltier device is discharged through a hole lid of a housing.
  • the cold air from a blower 40c located outwardly is supplied to a space formed between the metal plate 21d and the metal plate 60d through a tube 41c. Therefore, the external air collides with the metal plate and cooling fins cooled by the Peltier device, and is discharged towards the human's body through the holes 61d.
  • a sixth embodiment of the present invention will now be explained with reference to Fig. 6, and corresponds to a modification of the third and fifth embodiments.
  • a metal plate 21e is cooled by a Peltier device 22e, and the heat generated from the Peltier device is naturally dispersed by the atmosphere.
  • the external cold air from a blower 40e is supplied into an air tank 24e, thereby cooling the heated air.
  • the external air from a blower 40e is supplied to a space formed between the metal plate 21e and a metal plate 60e through a tube 41e. Therefore, the external air collides with the metal plate 21e and cooling fins 50e, and is cooled and discharged towards the human body through the holes 61e.
  • Reference numerals 43e and 44e indicate a tube, and 26e indicates a cooling fin.
  • the present invention cools the Peltier device by use of the coolant or pan motor and the external air, and also cools the human body via the metal plate or the metal plate with holes formed.

  • the change of the polarity of the electric power applied to the Peltier device may cause the coolness to be provided in the summer season and the warmness to be provided in the winter season.
  • the present invention may be constructed as an automatic type, so that when a user lays herself or himself on the bed the cooling and/or heating bed is operated, and vice versa.
  • metal plates 21, 21a, 21b, 60c, 60d and 60e metal plated with material useful to the human body such as gold, silver or the like may be used, and the material may be attached with wood, paper, stone, ceramic, jade or the like radiating a lot of far-infrared rays.
  • the present invention may be widely applied to various daily products or residential provision, in other words, the upper surface of the bed may be heated or cooled by employing the Peltier device.
  • the upper surface of the bed may be heated or cooled with the simple construction and operation, so that the optimum temperature desired by the human may be always obtained at a constant level. Therefore, it may ensure a healthy and agreeable environment.
  • the very beneficial sleep state may be provided to improve his/her health, and also, it can address a problem such as prickly heat or eczema happened in the summer season.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un lit refroidissant/chauffant mettant en oeuvre l'effet Peltier. Ce lit refroidissant/chauffant est construit de manière qu'une surface supérieure (plaque métallique) du lit soit facilement refroidie ou chauffée, ou de manière que l'air froid ou chaud soit libéré vers la surface supérieure du lit. Ce lit refroidissant/chauffant comprend une unité de refroidissement et un boîtier supportant l'unité de refroidissement, cette dernière contenant un dispositif Peltier, une plaque métallique fixée au fond du dispositif Peltier, un réservoir de liquide de refroidissement, un moteur à pistons axiaux et un ventilateur pour refroidir le dispositif Peltier, ainsi qu'un réservoir d'air pour amener l'air de l'extérieur.
