Abstract

　コストの上昇を抑制しながら、光源からの光の利用効率がより向上した液晶表示装置、及び、テレビ受信装置を実現する。本発明の液晶表示装置１は、液晶表示パネル（４０）と、該液晶表示パネルを挟みこむように配置された２つの偏光層（第１偏光層（５０）・第２偏光層（５２））と、バックライト装置（１０）（光源）とを備えている。２つの偏光層のうち、バックライト装置（１０）側に配置された第１偏光層（５０）（背面側偏光層）と、バックライト装置（１０）との間には、バックライトの光を集光させるレンズシート（２２）を含む光学シート群（２０）が設けられている。さらに、第１偏光層（５０）と光学シート群（２０）との間には、λ／２シート（３０）（λ／２層）が設けられている。
