Abstract

A column assist type electric power steering device having versatility achieved by a simple structure and employing a less number of parts. In the power steering device, a unit installation section (20) has mounted on it a motor mounting section (17) for mounting an electric motor (5) and a control unit (19) for controlling drive of the electric motor (5), and the unit installation section (20) is placed next to a reduction gear box (4). The control unit (19) is made up of a control board (19A), a power board (19B), and a module component (19C). The power board (19B) and the control board (19A) are stacked in that order on the unit installation section (20) with a predetermined gap maintained in between. An electric connection section of the module component (19C) is located between the control board (19A) and the power board (19B) to form a three-layer structure.
