Abstract

 過給機を備える内燃機関であって、排気系に設けられた前記過給機のタービンと、該タービンの上流側に設けられた上流側触媒と、該上流側触媒をバイパスする触媒バイパス通路と、該触媒バイパス通路を開閉する触媒バイパス通路開閉弁と、前記上流側触媒と前記タービンの間の部分から排気の一部を吸気系に還流する第1排気還流通路とを備える内燃機関が提供される。さらに前記上流側触媒の上流側から排気の一部を吸気系に還流する第2排気還流通路と、第1排気還流通路と第2排気還流通路とを切り換える切換弁と備える内燃機関が提供される。
