Abstract
A display device (100) includes an interpolation frame generation controller (140) that detects motion of every input frame to obtain the motion as an input video detection vector. The controller performs processing of, when the input video detection vectors (V) have continuity, increasing an interpolation distance adaptive gain and, when the vectors have no continuity, reducing the gain. The controller recognizes an input frame supplied at input synchronous timing wherein the interval between the input synchronous timing and output synchronous timing of a predetermined output frame is the shortest, and divides an interpolation distance, i.e., the interval therebetween, by the interval between the output synchronous timings to obtain an interpolation distance ratio. The controller multiplies the input video detection vector, the interpolation distance adaptive gain, the recognized interpolation distance ratio, and a frequency ratio to set an input video usage vector and allows a vector frame rate converting unit (150) to generate an interpolation frame having the amount of motion based on the input video usage vector.
