Abstract

Disclosed. are devices, kits for fluid sample collection, and methods of using them. The subject devices and kits are particularly useful for collection of biological samples, particularly bodily fluids. The devices comprise a collection member (3) comprising a first absorbent material in fluid communication with an indicator assembly (2) comprising a second absorbent material. The indicator assembly may indicate the collection of a sufficient amount of fluid sample, may have a fluid retention capability greater than that of the collection member, or may reside within a handle (1) having a window (11). The device may restrict flow from the indicator assembly to the collection assembly. The devices are intended to address the problem of saliva reflux in collection devices and to ensure collection of sufficient fluid.
