- Elevating work platforms may comprise scissor lifts in which the work platform may be moved substantially vertically by a scissor mechanism, articulated lifts in which sections of an articulated boom may pivot at joints therebetween allowing the work platform to be moved substantially horizontally and/or vertically, other forms of lift for example telescopic, rack and pinion or screw thread systems, and/or combinations thereof.
- MEWPs in particular are often designed for single person operation; that is, movement of the work platform is controlled by a person located on the work platform. In such circumstances, safety considerations are paramount.
- a work platform safety device comprising: a barrier configured to couple to a work platform such that the barrier projects from the work platform at least horizontally.
- a work platform comprises a substantially horizontal surface that an operator may stand on, and may or may not include additional components such as a guard rail and/or controls for operating the work platform.

Abstract
L'invention concerne des plates-formes de travail d'élévation mobiles (MEWP) qui sont couramment utilisées dans des activités de construction et de maintenance. Dans de nombreux environnements d'exploitation, les outils doivent être fixés à la plate-forme de travail par des cordons ou des dispositifs similaires. Cependant, les petits objets (comme les écrous et les boulons) sont très difficiles (voire impossibles) à fixer de cette manière. Selon un premier aspect de la présente invention, l'invention concerne un dispositif de sécurité de plate-forme de travail, comprenant: une barrière (11) configurée pour s'accoupler à une plate-forme de travail de telle sorte que la barrière (11) fait saillie à partir de la plate-forme de travail au moins horizontalement. De cette manière, des articles lâchés sur le côté de la plate-forme de travail peuvent être rattrapés par la barrière.
