Description

A Detection Apparatus
Technical Field
This invention relates to an apparatus for detecting the existence of pest or rodent. More particularly, the apparatus is used in a pest or rodent trap.
Background Art
in the current application of pest and rodent traps there is a tack of an effective and comprehensive method and an apparatus to indicate the existence and activities of a pest or rodent having entered, trapped or have entered and left the trap which results in inaccurate analysis of pest control needs for rodent control.
Current conventional methods for rodent monitoring system are only using rodenticlde, glue boards or snap trap methods without the function of detection and notification via the Internet and mobile networks. There are other known methods of pest control devices by using sonic frequencies to drive away pests. Others are devices using electricity to electrocuit pests entering into the trap, however this method Is unsafe as it generates the possibility of an electrical short circuit and danger to human handlers of the trap and H has to be located in dry environment to avoid water and other liquids that can cause the electrical device to activate or short circuit. There is also another device having a snap trap that kJfls the rodent and sends an electronic signal to indicate that the device has been activated to notify existence of rodent being trapped. The signal is however only sent to an onsite location device that Indicates the activation of the snap trap device.
US 6792395 B2 discloses a system hardware and communication architecture along with a software data processing system to permit the gathering, transmission, processing, storage, access, presentation and use of data generated by remote detection, monitoring and management systems, particularly used in pest control and detection. The system disclosed only detects and transmits data of the physical characteristics of the bait that is placed within the trap device. No part of the patent document describes the detection together with the data analysis of the pest or rodent that has entered into the trap device.
Further to the above, there is a need to provide a pest or rodent detection device that is capable of overcoming the deficiencies of the prior arts. The apparatus of the present invention aims to provide a comprehensive rodent and pest detection, real-ttme notification and alert alternative to known devices for pest detection or the like; to Improve efficiency, efficacy and productivity of pest control needs with detail data collection and reporting for analysis purposes.
Summary of Invention
The present Invention a detection apparatus comprising at least a sensing means for obtaining data, at least a data-processing means For receiving and storing data from the sensing means, at least a data-transmitting means connected to the data-processing means, at least a data-receiving means for receiving and storing data transmitted from the data-transmitting means, characterized In that the sensing means is a weight sensor that is capable of obtaining data by means of weight. The apparatus disclosed In the present invention is preferably used in a pest or rodent trap for detecting the existence of pest or rodent. Although the present invention is described to be used in a pest or rodent trap, it should be understood that the apparatus can also be used in other devices that requires detection and related data collection. It is an object of the present Invention to provide an apparatus that is capable of providing comprehensive rodent and pest detection, real-time notification and alert alternative to known devices for pest detection or the like.
It is another object of the present Invention to provide an apparatus that is capable of improving the efficiency, efficacy and productivity of pest control needs with detail data collection and reporting for analysis purposes.
Brief Description of the Drawings
figure 1 illustrates the detection apparatus as disclosed in the present invention.
Detailed Description of the Present invention
The above mentioned and other features and objects of this invention will become more apparent and better understood by reference to the following detailed description. It should be understood that the detailed description made known beiow is not intended to be exhaustive or limit the invention to the precise form disclosed as the invention may assume various alternative forms. On the contrary, the detailed description covers all the relevant modifications and alterations made to the present invention, unless the claims expressly state otherwise.
The apparatus of the present invention, as illustrated in figure 1, comprises at least a sensing means (2) where the sensing means (2) is preferably a weight sensor capable of obtaining data by means of weight. In a preferred embodiment of the present Invention, the apparatus is used in a pest or rodent trap (1), where the weight sensor is used to detect the presence or existence of pest or rodent entering the pest or rodent trap (1) and at the same time to obtain the weight of the pest or rodent. In another embodiment of the present invention, the weight sensor comprises at least two metallic plates with the weight sensor fastened In between the metallic plates.
The weight sensor fastened between the metallic plates is connected with one end of insulated copper wire. The other end of the insulated copper wire is connected with the data-processing means (3). According to One of the embodiment of the present invention, the weight sensor is positioned within the pest or rodent trap (1), or more particularly, at the trap entrance section where the pest or rodent enters the trap. In order for the weight sensor to be activated, weight Is applied to the plate surface by the existence of a pest or rodent entering Into the trap activating an Input signal. The Input signal, which is the weight, is received and calculated by the data-processing means (3).
The data-processing means (3) is housed within a plastic housing that Is designed with water resistant. The data-processing means (3) comprise of a circuit board of electronic components constructed to read and process the input signal from the weight sensor. Upon receiving signal from the weight sensor, the data-processing means (3) processes the data which consist of the weight of the pest or rodent present on the weight sensor. This data together with a programmed identification number of the data-processing means (3) will be transmitted via the data- transmitting means (4). Each of the data-processing means (3) Is given a unique identification number to differentiate the data-processing means (3) in different pest or rodent trap (1). Atso transmitted together with these data are the date and time of the collection of the data. Whenever the weight sensor returns to its tare value, it indicates that the pest or rodent has stepped away from the weight sensor, or has left or escaped from the pest or rodent trap (1). The date and time of when the weight sensor returns to its tare value are atso obtained and transmitted,.
The data-transmitting means (4) transmits the data to the data-receiving means (5) via wireless networks, where networks and access points are being placed in both the data-transmitting means (4) and data-receiving means (5). Preferably, the wireless networks are selected from either one of these networks such as Bluetooth, RFID and WIFt. It should be obvious to the skilled addressee that other methods or networks can be used apart from those mentioned in the above provided that it is capable of transmitting data from the data-processing means (3) to the data-receiving means (5). in a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the data-receiving means (5) is connected to an onslte computer by way of Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface and it is powered by the USB interface port of the computer. Optionally, the data-receiving means (S) may be connected to other device that Is capable of receiving and processing the data obtained from the data-transmitting means (4), in the preferred embodiment, the onsfte computer is pre-!rataifed with a software that is capable of processing and analysing the data. Upon processing, the data is transmitted by way of the internet to a web based application to be recorded and retained in a database.
The data In the database is available for retrieval from the web based application by each user on demand basis whether to view daily, weekly and monthly reports of the activation data of the apparatus. The web based application is also capable of sending any one or a combination of push notification to the user's mobile application, notification email and mobile phone message to their mobile device to notify the user of the activation of the apparatus. The push notification, email notification add mobile phone messages herein indicates that notification is being provided reai- time when pest or rodent enters the trap (1). The activation herein defines the detection of pest or rodent on the weight sensor within the pest or rodent trap (1). The apparatus provides a complete and real-time pest or rodent detection from the pest or rodent trap (1) and at the same time capable of notifying and alerting the user. The data and analysis obtained allow pest or rodent control personnel to know what is really happening in the pest or rodent trap (1), and thereby react and clean the pest or rodent trap (1) as soon as possible upon detection, it also allows the pest or rodent control personnel to perform more efficient cleaning services to reduce the risk of disease spreading due to having dead rodents and pests in traps.
