    Botkit

    Botkit

Tool for building chat bots, apps and custom integrations

An open source developer tool for building chat bots, apps and custom integrations for major messaging platforms. Part of the Microsoft Bot Framework. We love bots, and want to make them easy and fun to build! Include Botkit into your Node application and boot up a controller that will define your bot's behaviors. In this case, we're setting up a bot to use with the Bot Framework Emulator. Tell the bot to listen for users saying "hello," and use `bot.reply` to send an immediate response. Start a conversation, then queue up multiple messages to send, including a prompt sent using `convo.ask()` which allows your bot to capture user input and use it. Botkit is just one part of a bigger set of developer tools and SDKs that encompass the Microsoft Bot Framework. The Bot Framework SDK provides the base upon which Botkit is built. It is available in multiple programming languages!

    CSS-Only Chat

    CSS-Only Chat

A truly monstrous async web chat using no JS whatsoever

css-only-chat is a proof-of-concept demonstration that implements a functioning chat interface using only HTML and CSS, without any JavaScript or backend logic. The project showcases creative use of CSS selectors, checkboxes, labels, and the :checked pseudo-class to mimic interactive behaviors normally handled by JavaScript. Messages are pre-written in the HTML and displayed based on user interaction, making it more of a playful experiment than a real messaging platform. Its main purpose is to illustrate the limits of CSS as a programming and UI tool, serving as both an educational example and a bit of humor within the developer community. By pushing CSS beyond its conventional role, it demonstrates how user interfaces can be simulated through styling tricks and static structures. Although not suitable for production use, it stands as a fun exercise in front-end creativity and unconventional coding challenges.

    Diffuse

    Diffuse

A music player that connects to your cloud/distributed storage

A music player that connects to your cloud/distributed storage, in the form of a static, serverless, web application. Diffuse is a static web application, which means it's just HTML, CSS, and Javascript. No REST API, database, or anything backend-related is involved. The app uses a hash (aka. fragment-based) routing system, so you don't need any special server rules for routing. You can download a pre-build web-only version of Diffuse on the releases page. Diffuse uses service workers, so you may need HTTPS for it to work smoothly in certain browsers. I should also note that some source services use OAuth, so you'll need to use your own application credentials (eg. Google Drive client ID + secret).

    Discord-Sandbox

    Discord-Sandbox

Alternative electron-based Discord client with custom telemetry

Are you worried Discord is watching what programs you have open or listening to your mic even while you're not pressing your push-to-talk key? Discord-Sandbox isolates the Discord client from reading background processes by running the Discord web client inside of a webview, which is finally contained inside the Electron process. While I cannot guarantee this client protects you from anything, I have tried my best to remove Discord's data collection. As detailed from Luna Mendes' discord-unofficial-docs, Discord sends telemetry data over the /api/science endpoint. This project does its best to disable this telemetry communication by running javascript code into the webview that adds a blacklist/whitelist to the default XMLHttpRequest behavior. In this way, we explicitly block all communication with the science address, while simultaneously whitelisting addresses needed for minimum Discord functionality. See the full code in mainRender.js.

    GameNetworkingSockets

    GameNetworkingSockets

Reliable & unreliable messages over UDP

GameNetworkingSockets is a basic transport layer for games. A reliability layer significantly more sophisticated than a basic TCP-style sliding window. It is based on the "ack vector" model from DCCP (RFC 4340, section 11.4) and Google QUIC and discussed in the context of games by Glenn Fiedler. The basic idea is for the receiver to efficiently communicate to the sender the status of every packet number (whether or not a packet was received with that number). By remembering which segments were sent in each packet, the sender can deduce which segments need to be retransmitted. Encryption. AES-GCM-256 per packet, Curve25519 for key exchange and cert signatures. The details for shared key derivation and per-packet IV are based on the design used by Google's QUIC protocol. This library has shipped on consoles, mobile platforms, and non-Steam stores, and has been used to facilitate cross-platform connectivity. Contact us to get access to the code.

    IPFS Web UI

    IPFS Web UI

A frontend for an IPFS node

A web interface to IPFS, shipped with Kubo, and ipfs-desktop. Check on your node stats, explore the IPLD powered merkle forest, see peers around the world and manage your files, without needing to touch the CLI. When working on the code, run an ipfs daemon, the local dev server, the unit tests, and the storybook component viewer and see the results of your changes as you save files. If you need to run IPFS in a Docker container, you can still have Web UI available by exposing both the Gateway and Web UI ports. The end-to-end tests (E2E) test the full app in a headless Chromium browser. They spawn real IPFS node for HTTP API and a static HTTP server to serve the app. The purpose of those tests is not being comprehensible, but act as a quick regression and integration suite.

    International Telephone Input

    International Telephone Input

Plugin for entering and validating international telephone numbers

A JavaScript plugin for entering and validating international telephone numbers. It adds a flag dropdown to any input, detects the user's country, displays a relevant placeholder and provides formatting/validation methods. Lots of initialization options for customization, as well as public methods for interaction. The user types their national number and the plugin gives you the full standardized international number. Navigate the country dropdown by typing a country's name, or using up/down keys. Automatically set the input placeholder to an example number for the selected country. Automatically select the user's current country using an IP lookup. Access the country data to create a separate country dropdown for an address form, and then listen for change events to keep the two dropdowns in sync. Use Twilio's API to build phone verification, SMS 2FA, appointment reminders, marketing notifications and so much more.

    MailCatcher

    MailCatcher

Catches mail and serves it through a dream

Catches mail and serves it through a dream. MailCatcher runs a super simple SMTP server that catches any message sent to it to display in a web interface. Run mailcatcher, set your favorite app to deliver to smtp://127.0.0.1:1025 instead of your default SMTP server, then check it out to see the mail that's arrived so far. Shows HTML, Plain Text and Source version of messages, as applicable. Rewrites HTML enabling display of embedded, inline images/etc and opens links in a new window. Command-line options to override the default SMTP/HTTP IP and port settings. Mail appears instantly if your browser supports WebSockets, otherwise updates every thirty seconds. Sendmail-analogue command, catchmail, makes using mailcatcher from PHP a lot easier. Encodings are difficult. MailCatcher does not completely support utf-8 straight over the wire, you must use a mail library that encodes things properly based on SMTP server capabilities.

    Manifold

    Manifold

Fast batch message passing between nodes for Erlang/Elixir

Erlang and Elixir make it very easy to send messages between processes even across the network, but there are a few pitfalls. Sending a message to many PIDs across the network also copies the message across the network many times. Send calls cost about 70 µs/op so doing them in a loop eventually gets too expensive. Manifold distributes the work of sending messages to the remote nodes of the PIDs, which guarantees that the sending processes at most only calls send/2 equal to the number of involved remote nodes. Manifold does this by first grouping PIDs by their remote node and then sending to Manifold.Partitioner on each of those nodes. The partitioner then consistently hashes the PIDs using :erlang.phash2/2, groups them by the number of cores, sends to child workers, and finally those workers send to the actual PIDs. This ensures the partitioner does not get overloaded and still provides the linearizability guaranteed by send/2.

    Nylas Mail

    Nylas Mail

An extensible desktop mail app built on the modern web

Nylas Mail is an open-source mail client built on the modern web with Electron, React, and Flux. It was designed to be easy to extend, and many third-party plugins are available that add functionality to the client. See /packages for the separate pieces. Each folder in /packages is designed to be its own stand-alone repository. They are all bundled here for the ease of source control management. In early 2016, the Nylas Mail team wrote extensive documentation for the app that was intended for plugin developers. This documentation lives on GitHub Pages and offers a great overview of the app's architecture and important classes. When you download and build Nylas Mail from the source it runs without its cloud components. The concept of a "Nylas ID" / subscription has been removed, and plugins that require server-side processing are disabled by default. (Plugins like Snooze, Send Later, etc.)

Official Android SDK for Stream Chat

Official Android SDK for Stream Chat

Android Chat SDK ➜ Stream Chat API. UI component libraries for chat

This is the official Android SDK for Stream Chat, a service for building chat and messaging applications. This library includes both a low-level chat SDK and a set of reusable UI components. Most users start with the UI components and fall back to the lower-level API when they want to customize things. We're proud to say that we're the first Android Chat SDK that supports Jetpack Compose! We released our Compose UI Components one day after the official Jetpack Compose 1.0 release and our team members have been working hard on it since then. Now it's mature and stable enough for us to officially recommend it for all new applications and all modern chat implementations. If you're looking for something highly customizable and extremely performant, check out our Compose SDK.
