Journalists needing a tool to verify information while conducting research online
About FactSnap
FactSnap is a Chrome extension that serves as a reliable fact-checking companion, allowing users to verify information while browsing the web. By highlighting text and clicking the FactSnap icon, users receive immediate feedback on the accuracy of statements, categorized as accurate, suspicious, or incorrect. The tool leverages AI to compare claims against relevant online sources, promoting critical thinking and helping combat the spread of misinformation. FactSnap does not require users to create an account and is designed with user privacy in mind, processing and collecting data related to usage without storing personal data unless explicitly provided. It utilizes third-party tools such as Groq, Llama 3, exa.sh, and GPT-4o for fact-checking, each adhering to its own data privacy standards. Developed by Studio NAND, FactSnap is part of the AI4Democracy initiative, aiming to foster a healthier, more informed society.
